The final 6 weeks of the season.....

Lets face it if the right team turns out we can perhaps make it to the play offs, but then the right team has got to be out there for us in the play off games, I still dream in the far reaches of my mind of winning promotion but 60yrs of being a Vale fan gives me that nagging fear of us failing. So play each game as it comes beat crwho and send them down, and if the top 6 is not to be, then recharge our hopes for next season's push...

BUT get rid of Duffy and McGiven for f***'s sake.

Can anyone really see us beating Crewe? We have shown time and time again, we always falter against them, when they are in trouble.

My predictions for the remaining games are:-

Shrews - L

Barnsley - L

Chesterfield - W

Crewe - D

Gillingham - D

Blackpool - W

Rochdale - W

Scunthorpe - D

Walsall - L.

Too little to make the play-offs.

If only we could actually play Blackpool three times in the league! ;)

Our forward line simply isn't good enough to win a play off spot. At the end of last season our owner promised to replace Tom Pope with a better striker for less money and guess what he hasn't.

Before folk point out that Popey hasn't been that good at Bury I would agree but his move has cost us and could bring Tom's career to a sad end. The lad never gave us less than 100% while he was here. He left us but never took his 'heart' with him to Bury. You see deep down Popey' will always be a Valiant.

AJ has already scored more League One goals than Popey did last season.

Won't score many goals while he's injured and has scored fewer goals than AJ both this season and last. Selling Pope was still the right move, unfortunately Robinson and, to an extent, Hooper haven't stepped up.

Yep definitely the right time for Pope to have moved on for him on a financial note and for us as a club. AJLS has somewhat surprisingly improved us in terms of goals and style of play. The issue upfront is the support strikers, sadly none of Dodds, Robinson or Campion have taken their chance hence the overall lack of goals from other areas to cover those supplied by people like Williamson and Marshall last season.

It also highlights once again the crazy retained list and even crazier squad size of 33 players. Quality over quantity next time please Pagey.
