Alnwick Interest

Robbie Earle's Perm

why not play neil he's out of contract end of season and could leave for free Alnwick still has two year contract at end of season or are they waiting to see which one will go or could lose both one fore a price the other on a free transfer and end up with Johnson as first choice next season.

Anyone who thinks that we'll get £1 million for Alnwick is getting too excited.

He's a great young keeper but he doesn't come off his line and collect the ball enough, which I'm sure will come with age.

If we sell him i'd say we'd get about £300,000.

Like Hagrid says, he's got work to do but he does have potential.

£1 million is way over the top but we could get up to about £500k (possibly inc add-ons) I think with the market how it is for english keepers (Good ones are sought after, for the reason that a backup keeper would not take up a foreign player spot in squads and would rarely see a lot of action unless called upon).

I'd be tempted to do the deal now. £3-500k for 6 months would be very good business. Neal is more than capable (I still prefer him to Alnwick, but you can't drop Alnwick for how he's played) and he's a longer-term option for us than Alnwick, who is clearly destined to move back up the leagues.

I don't think we'll get that big a fee but I hope if he does move, Vale are sensible and negotiate a sell-on clause.

Newport recently got £1m thanks to their 20% sell-on clause when Connor Washington went from Peterborough to QPR.

If Alnwick keeps progressing, I would say a sell-on percentage would be a no-brainer...

£1m wont replenish our squad? What world are you living in? Thats nearly our seasons budget, i think you should step back from the computer and think before you type.

I think you ought to do the same. Firstly do you think we would get all the money off alnicks sale.i dont think so.secondly if thst was our budget gor thus year, smurf has spent extra on getting in more plyers.

So i would think we need far more than what we would get from alnick.

Most people were unhappy with the players we resigned , those players to a pay cut.

Smurf said he is funding an extra 80000 a month i think extra on wages.

so i would presume our start off budget was more than 1 million pounds and smurf is funding an extra 80000 a month so that 1 million pound budget , you were talking about is probably maybe 2/3 thirds of our current budget may be even less.

So if were are lucky we may find a gem or too in the off season, but if we require better players we will have to pay higher wages. meaning 1 million will just about cover the players we have signed up already and maybe a couple of new players if players leave, similar to this season.

Well Page has now admitted that "the plan" is for Alnwick to stay another year and hopefully continue his excellent form so as to attract big bidders then when Vale would sell him on. That , to me, says that it would take a MASSIVE bid now for Vale to change their minds. Lot depends on next 12 months obviously but if , as is expected, Alnwick continues his rich vein of form we have to be in a very favourable position then to get the fee all of us would love to see.

Of course, if we get new owners in by the end of February(as Smurf is now hinting at) they may have their own ideas on the squad, present and future wise, as well as who they will want to manage our Team. Think we are in for a really interesting few weeks off the pitch.....hope the present lads ensure they keep their eyes on our objective to finish as high as possible this season!
