Noticed no film thread on here so thought I would start one. Watched The Revenant the other night, not bad, oscar for leo? Maybe, his best chance yet I think.

Another film I watched was Hitchcocks Lifeboat made in the 40s, black and white, a little dated but wow, what a great film. Going to make an effort to watch more AH films next year.

Seen Spectre and the new Star Wars film recently..disappointed with both. We have an old skool cinema here (town centre, single screen)..much better experience then the multi google plex things..but Star Wars film was still kak

Got a sci-fi classic "The Time Travellers" for Xmas..now that is a great film :)

My most enjoyable TV this Christmas was not a film, but the making of Fawlty Towers, followed by 'Basils Best Bits' which reminded me of just how brilliant and wonderful the 12 precious episodes were. Some great outtakes too, and interviews.

As for films, Black Christmas (the 1970s original, not the awful remake) was a treat, a superb suspense film that is often wrongly called a horror film, with some classic cameo moments like the alcoholic housekeeper who has a bottle of booze stashed in every room and even one in the toilet cistern, and the dumb policeman who asks one of the girls at the house for the phone number and she replies 'Fellatio 1234'. When he thinks this sounds a bit strange, but doesn't know the word, she keeps a straight face and says 'Yes its a new exchange'. Great film with a superb ending.

EastEnders was as cheerful and full of seasonal glee as usual, and was switched off after a few minutes.
