Exeter draw liverpool

Recommended Posts

I don't really buy this tosh about players not applauding the fans.

There's a time and a place for that, and most of the fans and players knew that Sunday certainly was not the time for that guff.

One or two made the effort....but if they are going to get slaughtered then what is the point anyway?

Lads, beat Scunny and Walsall for me and we'll call it quits!

For me they should come over win or lose, 300 fans including me made the journey saturday and saw a truly woeful display. Yes they would have got stick but would have got much more respect in clapping the fans. I always remember getting off the coach after the Fulham game and Rigg drove past everyone when the coach arrived at vale. Stopped, got out and apologized and promised they would make up for it. Clapping the fans really isnt that difficult and the players should be ashamed.

If we had won at Exeter, then we are talking about present and future all being different. It only takes a minor event, the classic butterfly effect, to change something. A big event like a sports match is huge in the physics of the world turning. So we cannot ever know what anything would have been if that game was a different score, or if ANY thing had happened different it all counts towards a changing reality. Not my research or results. Just annoying when people fail to realise this.

Then again, some people revel in being annoying - I'm glad someone can see the sense in it, and not bothered about the pee-takers, if what I wrote got a few people to actually think and engage a few brain cells, its well worth any abuse.

Now, Mr Tone - its tempting to take the attitude of 'great- I've driven him away' - but that really isn't the case, if you look back I have said I have no animosity towards you and respect your religious views and maybe you have mixed me up with some others who have been anti-Christian. True Christianity that is, not the Westboro Baptist hate-you-neighbour form.

You can of course, put me on ignore, but I think you are pretending I am against your religious views when it is my anti-greed, anti-big corporation, anti-profiteering, anti-gun holder and anti-discrimination against black people plus a shedload of other things your government promotes that is a problem - and I have already said that many good and great Americans are against these too. Could it be that your right-wing views and prejudices don't sit very well with your Christian views?

From what I have read of the Bible - which we can all read if we wish - Jesus would probably agree with me not you about the things I just listed. Do I remember a certain temple visit - perhaps the modern day equivalent would be to get very angry with Mr Trump and his mobs.

The 'butterfly effect' is well proven scientifically though, and nothing spiritual - most people can see that even having a list of paper with ball number 51 on it, that someone in the room of the draw writing Exeter on it, instead of Port Vale, and saying the words, will change things by a fraction of a second and change the draw, or at least make anyone else as likely as Liverpool. Other events outside the room will even influence it, conversations etc. - watch the film 'Sliding Doors' - can't promise any Rambo mass killings, or other US-style cinema tortures and hatred, but it does make you use your brain.

I'm all for remembering what Christmas is for, and what it isn't for too - black Friday, cyber Monday and all that rubbish, mass commercialism, gluttony, competing, overspending and overindulging to mention a few things.

Despite what you posted, I wish you and yours a peaceful Christmas, and your country too, lets hope it becomes a more peaceful country and makes just and proper contributions to the rest of the world being peaceful.

Finally Beasty with your 'if that's what you want to believe to make it less painful' post - quite honestly, apart form the money I don't think it would be a good idea for Vale to host Liverpool right now anyway, yes, wed have a better bank balance, but might be humiliated the way the players cannot seem to find any spirit, and it pains me to say that. Many moons ago, I saw in the records and have watched on YouTube when Stoke lost 0-8 at home to Liverpool.

Vale also played Liverpool at home in 1998/1999 and the match was not enjoyable as Liverpool controlled it so much from start to finish and the result was never remotely in doubt. There is a rebuilding job to be done, either continuing under Rob Page or under new ownership / manager and we need to look forwards not backwards to what might have been in the FA Cup.

Personally I think people were thinking that if the only thing that had changed was the team represented by ball 51 (i.e that we had won) then we'd have been playing Liverpool..just wishful thinking/a bit of fun..not ruminating on duality, fate, butterfly effects and so on

A bit of fun ? - hardly the emotion conveyed In some of the posts. You may be right with some posters, but its clear some others are/were totally convinced that we'd missed out on Liverpool. That's going on what was posted, not on what I made a wild guess on what they were thinking.

I must congratulate you on your telepathic insights into what other people think though - we're so lucky to have such a person amongst us.

Think about it...

Alnwick, whilst celebrating out the night after would have spilled a drink in the nightclub, wetting the skirt of one of the young ladies at the venue. She would have stormed off home, nearly getting knocked down by a taxi. The driver would have been shaken and failed to pick up his next passenger. That passenger was the cousin of Stuart McCall. He would have called Stuart to try and get a lift. Stuart, woken from his slumber would have dragged himself out of bed and not got a good nights sleep. The next day as he drew the balls for the third round, he would have inevitably drawn Ball 34, Rotherham United.

Rotherham have the chance to rub their ex-managers nose in it again with a great trip to Leeds in round 3.

How's this for "Ouch"?

If we'd got a draw at Exeter, we could have made the replay game one that people would have to attend to be in with a chance of a Liverpool ticket.

So we may well have had 8/10k for that game.

All hypothetical of course but still......

Whilst we're on the subject of altering the space-time continuum, if we'd managed to beat Exeter (or at least got ourselves a replay), would I have remembered to take my butty box out of the fridge on Monday morning or would I still have needed to go to the sandwich shop in my dinner hour?

Incidentally if anyone is interested in a play/film/whatever that deals with dualism/duality one can do a lot worse than read/see Hamlet; not only a rollicking story but deeply explores duality, fate, even the butterfly effect in its own way

Other Shakespeare plays also embrace the subject..Macbeth for example

Indeed his tragedies are wrapped around the ideas of fate and unforeseen impact of actions....in tying to avoid what has been predicted for them the main character actually makes the prediction come true, hence the conundrum that if he had not known of his predicted fate, it would likely not have come true
