Stand Closures for Crawley

I can see Smurf's reasoning behind this its just been done at too short notice.

Taking it to another level, it may have been better giving the handful of Crawley fans the corner between Bycars and railway, and giving the Hamil to home fans.

Perhaps he, like myself, didn't realise how sad some individuals are. I bet some of you would file for divorce if your Mrs swapped your sofa based on this.

I go in the Railway stand so I'll just move down a few rows. I won't get upset. It's something that people have mentioned many times as an idea to improve the atmosphere.

You are well mint.

Next season to close it all together, unless we get any big cup games or matches where we expect a bumper crowd. But only if the rest of the Lorne Street is fully up and running.

That way you retain the crowd around all the sides of the ground, those who move have a option of the Bycars, Padock or Lorne Street.

I have said this for 3 seasons and got shot down every time. Closing the railway stand with the size of our crowd/ground makes prefect sense.

Closing the Hamil End and putting Crawley's travelling dozen in the Bycars with the 20 in there would have made better sense.

What is the reason behind this move? doesn't effect me as my ST is in the paddock anyway, and if it was the whole RS & Paddock was relocated to the bycars so be it.

Saving money : so the staff are on a pay as you work contract are they ?

Stewarding costs I don't think so maybe a few bob.

Atmosphere your having a giraffe aren't you

I think the idea is to get more fans closer to the pitch to creat a more intimidating atmosphere for visiting players and to encourage our own

When that happens its normally the Vale players that bottle it though.

I'm a season ticket holder in the RS and while I'm happy to move for a game I'm really unimpressed by this on the whole.

Whether it is or not, the horrendous communication of the closure makes it come across as a punishment for other fans not coming. Ultimately this won't get more fans going, which is surely the primary driver of a better atmosphere and better income.

I'm not 'moaning' about the one-off change, I'm concerned by the precedent this sets for the relationship between NS and supporters.

Basically, if you're going to do it, do it properly.

Football to a lot of people is all about tradition, routine and for some superstition. I looked from afar at the Cardiff (colour change) and hull ( potential name change) situation and wondered why their fans were so enraged by these seemingly petty issues. Sitting in another seat for one game is yet another equally petty issue but in general football fans don't like change and this will do more harm than good.

That's to do with the police. Never in a million years will the safety lot or police allow away support anywhere but the hamil.

Why not finish the Lorne Street with padded seats. Close everywhere else and put cardboard cut-outs in all stands.

Or demolish Hamil and rebuild facing the other way.

Wtf is all the atmosphere that you're talking about?

Yet again, smurf achieves the impossible and disunites the fans. Priceless.

You'll be telling me next that he picks the side.....

It's clearly the chairman throwing his toys out of his pram because the crowd was not to his satisfaction at the weekend. ****ing off and alienating his existing customers to spite those who don't turn up.

Yep, the timing of the announcement massively hints at that.

And as for the atmosphere excuse/reason - has it improved the atmosphere when this has been done for other games (in the Cups)...........has it ****!!!

Then shut the Bycars and put those fans elsewhere.I understand the atmosphere in the Bycars is electric but........
