Stand Closures for Crawley

Walter - do you sit in the Railway Stand - my 80 year old dad a vale fan of over 65 years sits there - me & my son meet him there which we did Saturday - his last words Saturday were ... See you Tuesday - I can't get hold of him at the moment to arrange something else - what else I don't know as I'm not sure where we can go. .... I work in Chesterfield & was going to leave early to get back - in true pessimistic style, I now don't know whether I can be arsed - having bought a ticket in advance I'm now in the realms of who do I apply to for a refund for a sale of something that doesn't exist - common sense says this could have been decided weeks if not months ago ! Common sense ....mmmm

It's the fans fault. If everyone turned up on Saturday and we got a crowd of over 6500 then the Chairman would have made a super Premier League signing. The RW stand then would not have been closed because it would have been a sell out.

**** me! There's some stubborn folk on here. Anyone would have thought he's asked you to sit on the car park!

Loads of grounds do it usually with the aid of plastic netting, not us though we'll have none of that modern **** round these parts. Might upset the anti-change brigade.

Thought the moaning about cash turnstiles was bad enough.....

Everyone in the Railway Stand has already paid for their seat, many of them months ago. If you had done this at a theatre and turned up on the night to be told you can't sit where you had bought the ticket for and were being given an inferior seat what would you think? To announce this 24 hours before the match is lunacy in my opinion.

I hope the extra atmosphere generated by this move don't put the players off too much as a bigger atmosphere has done so in the past.On the other the extra atmosphere might wake them up straight from the start(or a little bit earlier)That way it won't take them 20 mins to wake up and realise that the game has started.

Hurrah! Something else for people to moan about. Another excuse for the mardy bums not to turn up!

I don't think Jacko's theatre analogy works really. The club are doing this to save money/ improve atmosphere and theatre goers don't really attend due to loyalty to a particular theatre. I haven't got a ticket but if I had, I honestly couldn't give a **** if I couldn't sit where I wanted.

I am interested in how this does actually save money though, or is it to improve atmosphere? I think the far sides of the Bycars and the Railway Stands grey seats should be shut on a semi-permanent basis. Whinging ****ers who wet their pants because they can't sit where they want need to grow up.

I can see some people's disappointment in terms of "that's where I've sat for 240 years etc..." but I'm not sure I get the argument of "what if I can't find another seat in the other 3 stands?" You really won't have a problem sitting anywhere tomorrow night!

You're probably right, but is there a plan to seat the people who have season tickets (and match tickets) for the Railway Stand elsewhere?

What an absolute joke.

I've sat in the RS for 15 years with 2 grandparents who've sat there even longer. I am comfortable and happy in the RS, I've sat by my friends all my life and to be told we have to sit somewhere else is ****ing ridiculous.

Some of the people claiming it is a good idea would be apoplectic if it was their stand.

Very, very unhappy. I was warming to Smurf but this is a clear indication that he does not have a clue what he is doing.
