Tranmere Reserves 1 Port Vale Reserves 2

If you have ever been to a reserve match you will know that the tempo is slightly more relaxed than a first team game. Campion scored a nice goal from open playtoday as well as his free kick goal but I am not sure he is ready for league 1 action yet. McGivern had a reasonable game and Pope had a few chances but needs a bit more time to get fully up to speed (!) again. Byron Moore played for 90 minutes and started to look a bit more promising towards the end.

Point is that the Vale team which is mainly an unchanged one over the last ten games has concede 40% more goals that what it has scored.

Hardly a top six performance.

Drastic changes seem neccessary. goal scorers? Campion knows where the net is for starters.

Defence? Magic wand needed.

Who does this magic wand play for?

Seriously though I agree with you. Everyone and his dog(and all League 1 managers) know how awful a defence we have, and have had for ages now. Opposition team talks don't need to be too lengthy when discussing how to score against Vale! Yes we are very poor at the back but if only half of the "chances" were taken by those up front then at least we would give the defence some respite! Ben tries hard and has some very good games but in general if we are relying on him(and Page's selections recently show that) then surely someone who has an eye for the goal like Campion is showing in the reserves deserves a chance to get into those positions and do what a forward is paid to do....score! I am sick of repeating myself, like many others, apparently, that we can lose nowt by at the least giving Campion the same games that Ben has had?

We are not going to be relegated and in truth are far off the mark as far as promotion is concerned so for crying out loud give the lad a chance! Allez allez Campion.

Nobody is saying Campion is a world beater and is good enough to start every week. What we are saying is that he has earned his chance in the first team by scoring in the reserves. If he has a run of games and doesn't look good enough then fair enough, but why even have a reserve team if the top performers in reserve games aren't merited with a go in the first team? The reality is Birchall, Yates, Dodds, Williamson aren't good enough but they will get countless chances, where as others like Campion and Moore haven't had a sniff.

Exactly, if they turn out to be crap then fair enough, but they do deserve a chance especially when the players they are behind are lets just say not good enough.

Played less than 45 minutes total. If he scored any goals in that time it would be a miracle. Our top scorer as you put it has only just caught up pope who has been inured for months, and has been playing lone striker. Not exactly a huge accolade. Especially as we have a midfield almost devoid of goals.

Our top scorer only caught up with Pope at the end of December regarding actual playing time. Why does no one understand this? Williamson was the scapegoat at the beginning of the season being dropped left right and centre subbed all the time. It's only since the end of November that he has actually had a decent run of games.

There is no reason he can't match Popes tally of last season but that still won't be good enough.

Every striker misses chances, last season Pope missed his fair of chances, Popey also missed a few sitters this season. One against Crewe on Sat.

Majority on here never thought Willo would get double figures, he has!

I would keep Williamson as he is the only striker we have with the pace to worry a league 1 defence.

We have done ok at scoring its the other end that needs sorting out.

Norman says we lack fire power up front. Well as long as we intend keeping him that fire power will be back on Saturday.

What we need is defenders who can defend.

Ive had many discussions with you over this and the fact is he isnt good enough, he hasnt got double figures in the league. He scored 3 against the weakest side in the football league. He has scored a few recently but he hasnt been good and he dosent worry defenders. Pope missed a sitter saturday and isnt the god some make him out to be on here but he is the best striker we have. Campion deserves a chance.
