Yes, ITV4 have covered a lot of the games. Algeria played some great football, and were unlucky to get drawn against Ivory Coast, who I feel sure will win it now. Bony, Toure etc. - they have some great players.

 

I have to thank Liverpool, just for once I put my money where my mouth was, as Bolton were winning at the time of my previous post when I said Liverpool would get through, I got good odds on Liverpool to qualify.

 

Just watched the other semi-final between Ghana and EQG,what a farcial ending.

And just to add, Emre Can was fantastic. I know it's only against Bolton but he's shown more than enough glimpses this season for me to see why FC Bayern wanted him to be a part of their squad. Fantastic chipped ball for Sterling's equalizer and was unlucky not to score himself with a brilliant effort that the Bolton keeper managed to push on to the bar.

 

What is his best position? Seen him a few times this season and noticed him in different positions, seen him at the back, infront of the back 4 and then slightly further forward. Looks pretty capable going forward to me.

He's one of them players that has a lot of attributes and therefore can play anywhere. He's strong, got good energy, he can pass and shoot as well as tackle. His best position is supposed to be as a holding midfielder, but I agree with you, he looks a force when he bombs forward because of his power and running ability. He's only 21, although he looks older, so he has more than enough time to continue to improve and turn into a very good player.

Coutinho's play over the last 12-18 months has been brilliant, still can't understand why he was ommited from the Brazilian World Cup squd, he brings creativity and something different compared to the likes of Paulihno, Fernandihno, Willian and Ramirez.

 

His potential is huge, and I believe if he continues to improve he can get to the level of the likes of David Silva. He was an absolute steal at 8.5 million. Rodgers' track record in the transfer market is suspect but when you consider that Coutinho and Sturridge cost a combined total of just 20 million then that's absolutely fantastic business. There total would be at least triple that right now and then some.

 

He does need to score a few more though as someone of his ability should be aiming for double figures every season.

Fair play to Blackburn today, the boy King had a stormer and once we went down to 10 men he tore the defence apart with his pace. If a couple of big boys draw one another no reason why a Blackburn or a Reading can't go all the way to the final......

 

In all fairness to Stoke they weakened their team significantly. And payed full price. Interesting that you had only two English players in your starting 11 today;)

In fairness they didn't weaken it on purpose we're down to the bare bones and wil struggle to fill the bench against Villa after another couple of injuries today plus Cameron's suspension......

 

Think the talk of an emergency loan for a team in the Prem is hilarious, they are usually used by sides on small budgets in the football league dont Stoke have any reserve players that can be given a chance ?

Cracking away win (yet another) for Liverpool yesterday against a Palace side that have also been in superb form since Pardew took over. Not a word from Sloth (Bea Smith) and the rest of the Goonies, and yet had Liverpool been knocked out they would have been circling here like vultures. Love it!
