McCombe out for 6 weeks.

A big blow?

Maybe not. Looking at it from a different angle it will now surely force Mickys hand in improving our centre defence.

Big John is commanding enough in the air but woefully slow and gets exposed on the deck too many times, like many of our centre backs.

I just feel if we got in two centre backs who could actually handle players on the deck we would be nailed on for automatic promotion,

His injury seemed pretty unnecessary.

The liner seemed to put his flag up very quickly but it was on big John's blind side. The ref was very late to blow his whistle for offside, John stretched to win a tackle he didn't need to and did himself an injury.

I'm told that these are the things that assessors mark referees down on.

I tend to agree with Spunkers, however we went to **** at the back when he went off against Fleetwood(which was worrying) for the rest of the first half. I just generally feel more safe with McCombe in defence he's a good solid lower league CB and can also be a threat in the opponents box too. Although it's a minor point(for a defender) I think you can probably count on 1 hand the goals McDonald and Chilvers have scored in their careers!

IMcDonald by in large has done well this season but he was poor on Tuesday and Chilvers appeared to have the wrong studs on a time or two!

Good job it was offside, otherwise it was a nailed on penalty though, clearly, that's not much consolation to John McCombe now. We could do with him very quickly. Unless Collins can get his form from 2 years ago back, then I wouldn't go back to him.

I've no problem with re signing Chilvers until the end of the season, he's looked solid enough when alongside McCombe in the games I've seen him play (Aldershot, Rotherham, Dagenham, Fleetwood). The problem is McDonald. Micky, please either pick Davis or sign someone who is faster than a glacier to partner Chilvers.

I keep saying this!! Joe Davis needs to be given a chance! Yes he's young and yes he's going drop some ******** but he is equally as good, if not better than Chilvers and Macdonald in my opinion! A lot quicker as well then most central defenders! Give him a chance
