Proves no one at the club looked at his record

I understand why the club went for him, he’s a big name in the lower leagues, reading on here and social media he was the most popular choice, bit like the signing of Devante Cole. What was stupid was giving him a 5.5 year contract.

Dah, it's obvious and we don't know the "ins & outs" of the actual contract,  but we do knowthe outcome.

Back to the stats; he alone has already scored more goals than all our players put together. There's a fair chance that we're he still a PV player we wouldn't be heading for an almost certain relegation that will undoubtedly cost us a lot more than the £1.2 mill we got for him.

When we signed Tolaj he'd been plying his trade in non league football.

We got him from aldershot!

Yes, he'd done well and been finding the net regularly for them but there was absolutely no guarantee whatsoever that he would turn out the way he did for us.

If someone had told any one of us that he'd get 13 goals that coming season, we'd go up and then he'd go for £1.2m i reckon the vast majority would take that no messing.

I think the tolaj deal in itself is exactly what we should be doing as a club.

Its disappointing a league 1 rival ended up getting him but that was purely down to the fact they needed him at the time and he fancied it.

How many players are plucked from non league and fail?

Look at paton, we took a similar punt on him and that ones gone the other way.  He'll end up released.

Because of you lack of concept of how a release clause works, I’m absolutely flabbergasted at this statement

God, you're hard work.  Of course I know how a release clause and other good business standard clauses in contract negotiation work. You're totally missing or not understanding the point that PV were out-negotiated by Taloj and his agent.

Yep, we received £1.2 million, but we're likely to lose far more than that when we almost certainly return to League Two football next season. If they're  honest, PV will almost certainly come to regret that particular piece of football business!

Faals a better team player than Cole in my opinion and he was very poor but if can sort his feet out id play him with Stockley moving forwards in home games away fair enough

Have a word with yourself.  Faal will never make it as footballer as long as he's got a hole in his arse. He has trouble putting one foot in front of the other.  That is the biggest load of <ovf censored> you've ever written on here, and that takes some doing.

Talk about hard work. You are the only person on here who does not understand the negotiations when Tolaj was coming to us.

HE SIGNS FOR ANOTHER CLUB IF WE DONT AGREE TO THAT RELEASE CLAUSE.

Comprehend???

But you're talking in hindsight mate.

At the time of the deal, nobody could guarantee what happen.

Everything has to be weighed up at the time

Other clubs in for him, wages being offered, bonuses, release clauses wanted on either side.

The club should rightly be taking a lot of stick for a lot of things at the moment but making a million pound profit on a non league punt that played a huge part in getting us up isn't one if them

You know that?

Oh yeah! We just add release clauses for the sake of it

The only possible thing we could have done better from the Tolaj deal was how we spent the money we received.
That’s it.
We had to have the clause in to sign him in the first place.
Once in, we were powerless to prevent it being exercised.
a £1m profit in 12 months is excellent business for a club of Vale levels and is exactly the model we should be following.
Where we have <ovf censored> up is how we have ‘strengthened’ the squad following his sale.

People can say what they want about Cole but he’s just another Ellis Harrison.
Got his contract. Hit the ground running and now looks dreadful.
A massive downgrade on Tolaj, not a young player so no improvement to come, never been prolific, and in my opinion an overpaid waste of a signing.

Hard to say. We saw Tolaj in league 2 and he was very good, but Cole has never played at league 2 level, let alone non league like Tolaj has.

Cole would have complimented Tolaj well I think, the poacher, with the creative flair of Tolaj.

Overall I like Cole, I think he is a hard working, technically good at least league 1 level footballer, problem is it is in a side that creates nothing despite what the laughable XG stats say.

The problem with Tolaj is was the £1.5m clause and at the time, Vale was the only game in town for him so god knows why we played such a weak hand. Even then, contracts state often players can talk to clubs, that doesn’t mean they have a right to actually leave and I still think we rolled over to take the money too easily.

Spot on. The release cause will have been added in negotiations when we signed him. In hindsight we maybe could have renegotiated his contract after promotion but that would have cost money. 1.2m is a good chunk of money and we didn’t spend any of that on a transfer fee for a replacement striker, no wonder we get someone no way near as good.

And you are being a <ovf censored> as usual.
