Port Vale v Gillingham match thread - 3rd May

Featured Replies

She wants us to enjoy it the way we did at Wimbledon, I'm sure if everyone stays off the pitch, then the celebration will go on for longer.

Is it that difficult to do what our owner is asking of us.

Hopes for today……

1) That Burslem/around the ground is absolutely electric from midday onwards.

2) It transfers into the ground with a crowd-pleasing music set

3) a spine-tingling Wonder of You before kick-off

4) Gill’s turn us around 1st half so we are attacking a ram-packed, pent up Hamil End.

5) The players feed off this, swarm all over the hapless Gill’s and waltz into a 4-0 H/T lead with some devasting attacking play.

6) The 2nd half becomes a procession, with the crowd running through the full repertoire of songs.

7) Walsall also race into a 0-4 lead at Crewe and going into the 98th minute 10-man Bradford are drawing 0-0 with Fleetwood before being awarded a highly contentious penalty which is converted. The full time whistle blows immediately after.

8.) Every single Vale fans remains off the pitch and, as news comes through that Donny have lost, the players celebrate the title with a lap of honour & trophy celebration.

9) Burslem is electric again afterwards!

Enjoy the day everyone!

I agree, however, there is always 1 and once 1 runs on hundreds will follow.

People are like sheep unfortunately.

The law is not enforceable when thousands of people go onto the pitch to celebrate. Have you seen any arrests banning orders from Doncaster last weekend? No its just Vale who are being killjoys.

Historically the FA are pretty lenient about end of season celebrations and fines are peanuts compared to the gate receipts of the match.

If it was an opponent where it would likely kick off I can understand but its bloody Gillingham, with nothing to play for deemed low risk because we got the go-ahead to segregate the stand.

Stay off the pitch  all week is a bit over the top in my view.

I can assure you that the law is enforceable to anybody. If you are identified and the cops wish to press charges then they will. An excuse of 'what about the rest' will not wash, nor will being/pretending to be oblivious to the law. Trust me, I got done with a three years banning order a while back.

I am all for a good natured pitch invasion, it used to be encouraged, I used to enjoy the novelty of being on the pitch at the end of the season.

Times have changed, and three promotions from this league in just over a decade is hardly a novelty. It isn't like we are heading for the Premier League or knocking out Liverpool s first team in the 95th minute of an GA Cup Quarter final.

With a presentation due, even I cannot see any point in a pitch invasion today.

Looking on Causeway one.network, yes you can drive along Waterloo road to the lights and turn right and then up the Hamil.

Burslem Town centre is now closed at the lights.  So u cannot turn left or right towards newcastle street.

They like to make things difficult for people

If there is a pitch invasion fans rush across towards the tunnel. Those fans in the Railway and Hamil can’t see anything. Pitch invasions are moronic in my opinion. One young lad got on the pitch last week and was frog marched down the tunnel so saw nowt of the celebrations. Serves him right.

Best bet Worlds end is to come off the D road at Tunstall and work your way back. That's what I'm doing but don't tell anyone 😁 Definitely a day to get there early. UTV

@man in the pub

Or alternatively, come off the D-road at Etruria, go straight through Cobridge lights onto Leek New Road, then branch off via Sandbach Road and Sneyd Hill to Smallthorne roundabouts.

15k from a full house gate receipts is peanuts. 3 weeks wages of one player.

As I alluded in my original message it’s a bit different than a Swindon when it’s all going to get a bit sour and cause trouble.

A last minute winner to win the title with an outpouring of emotion at the final whilst and fans on the pitch… I don’t see the harm in that at all.

Pottering around Hanley and Burslem this morning it’s brilliant to see the number of people wearing Vale shirts.

Love to see it.

The build up to today’s game willl be fantastic, even euphoric if Stoke get relegated before we play!😀

Just been told that Tommy Cheadles is closed. Is this true?

Sadly m8 you're wasting your breath, some people's opinion is just too important to themselves to take notice

Yeah it's easy to throw away someone else's money.
