I wouldn't come off at the Burslem turn. Take the tunstall/ kidsgrove turn and come through tunstall. Alternatively take the hanley at Basford come that way round.

Thanks 👍

I might try that way but doesn't that bring you out onto high lane?(someone says that is closed off,it wasnt on thursday) is High Lane fully closed to all traffic...... stressful this is 🙂

Like you said it wasn’t closed on Thursday and I didn’t see any road closure warnings

Notice is hereby given that Stoke-on-Trent City Council intend to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act, 1991, the effect of which will be to prohibit the driving of any vehicle along High Lane between the junctions of Eastwood Avenue and Beswick Road. The order is to allow for the completion of carriageway resurfacing and repair works which will come into operation on Saturday 26th April 2025 to Tuesday 6th May 2025 between the hours of 09:30 and 12:30hrs each day or until the works it is proposed to carry out are completed, whichever is the earlier.

It's still being promulgated online as a road closure (and will likely still appear that way on google maps/waze etc) but going off that last sentence, hopefully they're already finished and buggered off then.

Just googled it and it looks like its closed from the Haywood to the little roundabout,i have no idea on routes now as i usually use the same 2 or 3 ways to get there but they are all blocked off

Does anyone know if i can come through Tunstall go up Queens Avenue /Green Bank Road and turn right at the top?? as it looks like High Lane is closed if you turn left and not right past the Haywood

Or

Can I can up Waterloo Road up to the lights in Burslem and turn right towards Hamil Road as it looks like Market Place is only closed if you turn left??

Any help from those who live that end is very much appreciated

I know I am sounding a bit thick here but does that mean the road should be open after 12.30 today either way Doha? you never know with this council

Can someone go and drive along it and have a look please 🙂

I am travelling up from Aylesbury today by car, but I am hearing of all sorts of road closures around Vale Park. I have my parking space booked on the Vale car park. So just wondering what is the best way of getting to the ground. I had originally planned to come off the D road and up through Middleport but don't know if that is going to be the best way now. Any ideas please

It isn't! The centre of Burslem is definitely closed.

You'd have to come off at Tunstall and come down Hamil Rd from the north east, or come off at Etruria, cut across Sandbach Rd towards Smallthorne, past Burslem cemetery on your right (don't turn left and go up through Cobridge on Waterloo Rd towards Burslem as the centre being closed means it will likely be a nightmare), and then turn left to come down Hamil Rd.

For anyone coming from Tunstall, Louise St just off Lorne St is down as completely closed due to watermain works, there's no access at all as the road will be dug up, so if you come down Dolly's Lane towards Lorne Street/Bycars lane you'll get trapped at the end unless you turn left up Shaftsbury Ave back towards High lane, away from the ground and back on yourself. Nightmare.

Glad I'm not driving, it can be difficult enough to get away after the game when the crowd is sub 5000. Today will be, simply, <ovf censored> chaos. You might want to get your ticket office tents and camp stoves out again.

All the closures etc can be seen here -

If it were me, I would come off (A500) at the city centre turn off (A53) follow that road as though you were going to Leek through Cobridge lights then take a left onto Sandbach Rd / then Sneyd Hill, which will take you upto Smallthorne roundabouts. Left turn at the roundabout and easy from there. 👍

It does mate, should be. I had to open the statutory legal notice of closure pdf to find that information, the headline info about the closure insinuates it's closed throughout until the 6th May.

For those who can walk, you may be a lot better off parking a long way out and walking down. For the elderly/anyone who's physically disabled and driving in to park at Synectics etc, I would get to the ground very early to avoid the stress that today's traffic chaos will certainly be.

I agree, that's the best, or tbh the only way, if you're coming from a southerly direction. High Lane if from the north. West you'll have to pick one of the first two! Or go east to Norton Le Moors and then come back on yourself.

I am just hoping someone drives along there before i set out at 12.40 and lets us know 🙂

Thanks for the help Doha,it does look like you can come up along the side of the Haywood though and turn right at the top onto High Lane,if so i might go that way then come down Hamil road(like i usually do and park in a side road
