Port Vale v Barrow match thread - 25 March

Featured Replies

Think we should rotate a little for this bearing in mind it’s the beginning of 4 games in 10 days.

I would go pending player fitness -:

         Amos

Deb Smudge Hall

Sang Garrity Byers John

Rico Tolaj Curtis

I don't mind that side at all I can see what you thinking ...

No point in Clark if he isn't  going attempt get past anyone, may aswell just cross it in in ,(sang)and have players reacting to Stockleys aerial magnificence, so Sang gets chosen at times first half ,yesterday as I only saw 43 mins of game before I watched  some great fundraising boxing ,they lobbed one just past the post and at times Sang was a bit niave with his positioning and I thought crikey Vale Morecambe as good as us which concerned me greatly.

Like I say didn't see second half, so cannot judge ,like to think we can play with more intensity, speed ,passion , than what I saw in thst 43 mins

Adam Yates and Bowers were very complimentary on Vales efforts, I'd say we were in the main slow ,lethargic and lacking speed in areas you need speed but Im a git I accept that

Happy with John other 10 need impress me more on them 43 mins watched

Moore is a manager who plans ahead for big games, rightly or wrongly. I think after Tuesday he'll want what he considers his best 11 ready for Crewe and the subsequent 2 games. How he goes Tuesday will partly depend on whether he plans to go 3 4 3 or 3 5 2 from Saturday. I think he'll certainly have Stockley on the bench. Garrity may start but come off early second half. He may rest Kyle John, put Mitch on the left and Sang at rightback.  It's probably easier to predict the Crewe side than the one against Barrow. At Crewe I'd be surprised if Smith, Croasdale,  Garrity, John, Clark, Hall, Stockley don't start. Debrah will probably play right centrehalf. It's then 2 from Byers, Curtis and Tolaj depending on formation.

38 y/o Sam Foley in the back 3 yesterday. Get at them.

If he's now played centrehalf I think that's all 10 outfield positions on his CV. Very good footballer, obviously knocking on a bit now. I think he still lives relatively locally. Probably lacked a yard of pace to play Championship football but he was a good league 1 player.  He must have well over 500 games!

Vale vs Barrow streaming on Paramount+ in the USA, at least two viewers I know of!!

Barrow have only won 3 away games out of 19

Does that make it an easy game? No game at this time in the season is a given

Last 3 aways for Barrow.

Won at County, and twice earned 2-2 draws after being 2 down.

They are no muppets, anyone thinking this will be easy is in for a shock.

The biggest game of the season is Tuesday against Barrow.

It's important to keep the momentum of a (short, so far) winning run going.

Best players and best team on Tuesday please.

I agree, we need to pick up wins in as many games as possible and we simply cannot take Barrow for granted.

If we don't beat Barrow it does two things ;

Firstly it heaps yet more pressure on the Crewe game.

Secondly it maintains our abysmal form on a Tuesday night - it would be great get that camel off our back in time for Bradford .

I'm sure Darren knows what, and who is needed for Tuesday, let's hope whoever takes to the field does the business.

We owe these one for the battering we took earlier in the season

Edited by Powerline

We should have the motivation of the 2 defeats earlier in the season to gee us up for this one, at the same time I can’t get rid of the nagging doubt that the players will maybe have one eye on next Saturday.  It’s results over performances now so I’ll take a 💩 1-0 victory all day long.

Think the fanbase are really going to get behind the lads now to give us that extra push into the top three where I think we'll  stay .....UTFV.!!

If that was the bartering I hate to think what the original offer was.

Stick with the 3-4-3, I wouldn’t change much but I would take Stockley out, push Tolaj through the middle and put Garrity in one of the 10s. He still gives us that aerial presence and doubles up as a midfielder and attacker due to work rate.

I’d also bring smudge in for Deb to deal with Pressley/Acquah although Deb has played well in the middle of a three and proved himself against Jatta earlier in the season.

Keep the rest the same.
