Port Vale v Barrow match thread - 25 March

Featured Replies

As Morecambe showed none of our remaining games are banker results. We had to work hard against a team who were fighting for their lives. What I liked was that we kept attacking and had chances. Could have done better with some of them but at least we took the game to them. DM has to take the same gameplay into the Barrow fixture.

Yes Morecambe were fighting for their lives.....

Whilst no gimme I'm glad Barrow won't be in the same situation.....

A win is vital, as with all the games that remain.....

I'd make the Bradford game a fiver get in with it a Tues.

Barrow well they were lethal in the corresponding fixture and had a day where everything they hit went in .

It's about time Vale had one of them nights

Always liked Ben Whitfield and Sam Foley ,Vassell never played that often but has considerably had the better of us in games he as played v us in his career.

It's a big game because if we win we hit the top 3 ,3 points behind top of the league Walsall ,with them coming up soon ,imagine the excitement building if go in that game needing a win to go top .

It would be for me the best Vale supporting moment of me life if we get that opportunity to go above them .

Barrow first then talented Crewe .

Not easy at all

We do owe them big style after the reverse fixture. Lets hope we are 100% up for this and the final ball has a bit more quality. A tricky fixture but winnable if we are at our best! Lets hope for a good performance and a bit of good fortune. Come on you whites.

I’d try and keep the same 11 as Saturday if all fit. I don’t think we should be resting players now. Every game is as important as the next and 3 points here would be huge. It won’t be easy, they battered us at their place; we didn’t have Hall and missed him but we were still battered. They’re in good form as well.

Hopefully they attack us a bit and leave some gaps but I’d expect us to be on top and like Saturday maybe 1 goal to win in.

I’ll go 1-0 vale. Curtis again

For me DD, Brighton away in 94 was my best and favourite moment, but this has the chance to at least match it, IF all goes to plan. 👍

Brighton away what a day ,Brilliant .

That's the way get promoted .

In 2013 v Northampton wasn't the same didn't enjoy our performance at all 2-2 a freak goal giving us promotion .

Yes you right Brighton was the best .

Wembley was brilliant though smashing performance .

All to play for .

Good see there were 6.7 Vale there sat thats decent.

Let's hope the crowds increase furthermore and new folk are getting into the Vale as season evolves.

Barrow seem like a very spirited good side .

I'd like see Vale play Garrity from start tomoz and Byers in fact I want our 3 best in there tomoz .

I'd like see a tolaj in the striker role and have someone really quick by him .

He as the ability swivel and put someone in like the magnificent Kenny Dalglish used to put Ian Rush in .

Pace is required tomoz all over ,we could do with Clark getting on his bike and driving into the box to win a spot kick .

John will be the key as always as he be off like the wind down whatever side he is playing.

As much as would love 3 points a draw isn't disastrous. Would see us in autos by merit and thats all we want come end of season.

Big game and feels more pressured now with so much at stake, just need to win, that would open a big gap on Notts, Crewe, Grimsby, Colchester and really cement our play off challenge first and foremost, add 4 point gap to Donny (oddly one side we are close to on GD) and pressure on Wimbledon, who play Walsall (no idea who we should want to win that at the weekend!)

Just have to keep going, the title race is now wide open and along with Bradford we are right in the mixer.

Frustrating though, beat Harrogate or Tranmere and we are cemented in the Top 3 with a win tomorrow but hopefully our big signings come to the fore now its the business end, moments like Ronan's on Saturday may be the difference where despite a poor performance overall he had to capability to produce that moment at a key time when needed. That is what we paid the big money for in the summer, players who can do that and he has done that for example 2-3 times now to get us points.

If we win both barrow and crewe then feel like the walsall dons game either draw or dons win would what were hoping for if we want to be in touching distance with walsall a dons win would also make walsalls chances of dropping into play offs even greater and wouldny that be the icing on the cake of the season

Yeah it all depends, its hard to predict for example Wimbledon could go on a mega winning run and pip us by 2 points in which case we'd have wanted Walsall to win, swings and roundabouts, draws all round I guess!

No it wouldn't be disastrous, but a win would put huge pressure on the teams around us. We must be wary of Doncaster as they have Five home games left and didnt play on Saturday, so could then pass us with a game on hand. It would take pressure off the Crewe game a bit as well. We need to break that Tuesday hoodoo, it's about time!!

Win tomorrow night and we're just three points behind Warsaw off the same games....

The 16/1 for Vale to win the league @ 365  will look enormous if we can also get the better of Bradford......

That 16 point gap soon fell away from them, couldn't happen to a better club, they thought they had won the league at our gaff in December..
