Jason Lowe is so far below the rest of the squad it's quite damaging whenever he comes on.

Cover has played midfield for Leicester youth and Sang can play there too. I think we need to abandon Lowe trundling on and being about 3 seconds behind the play with less passing ability than most of the paying fans. A good pro but our midfield absolutely cratered the second he arrived.

Love the bloke, but yeah if Garrity isn’t fit for Gills we would want to be starting Cover, Sang or Grant there. I’ve been an advocate for Grant there but certainly something we see in January if we can address the depth there, be it recall Ojo or bring someone in.

We need to leave somebody outside the box on corners and free kicks so we have an outlet and this will take pressure off our defence as they will have to leave two players back

I'll never ever fathom out why very few teams does this.

Leave 2 up then they leave 3 back.

Quite basic. Equates to 5 less bodies in the box .

Plus in Richards, BBB and Hackford we have 3 speed merchants.

Yesterday was great entertainment at Vale park. The passion shown from the players, and both sets of supporters, after the late mayhem in our box was incredible.
Great game of football, only let down by the ref and his assistants.
It wasn't perfect from us by any stretch but I'm not bothered as matches like that are what football is all about and we got the three points

Another impressive stat is the wombles had only conceded 6 league goals before yesterday albeit having played a few games less. But the next lowest is Notts on 12 so they are no mugs defensively. To score 2 goals in the opening 10 mins shows we are such a force when we switch it on. Scary to be honest & could have had more if we didn’t rush our counter attacks on numerous occasions. Defence still can look a tad shaky but we knew this before the season kicked off having strengthened predominately in the attacking areas. What a job Darren Moore is doing! His CV speaks for itself as much as the numptys will only focus on Huddersfield & Vale last season. Both car crashes that he walked into at the time. UTV

What was going on with that bandy legged defenders shorts ? They were sprayed on. So 1980's .

We thought they had just signed him from some Aussie Rules Team.

That's exactly what I was thinking

Last season, every single Premier League side (bar relegated and awful Sheffield United + Wolves) defended corners with all 10 outfielders in the box. They're either all daft and can't see something quite basic, or it's advantageous to have all men back at set-pieces.

I said this at the game yesterday. I don’t understand why Sang is not going into CM. Lowe is just too slow to play CM but I wouldn’t trust Grant in there.

I really hope we don’t bring Ojo back. The squad harmony and togetherness is spot on at the minute which says a lot about Nathan Smiths character that he’s still in and around the 1st team albeit not in the match day squad.

Getting in on the retro shirt and obviously shorts day😉

Watching their number 31, Lewis, I kept thinking about Christmas for some reason - then the phrase ‘last turkey in the shop’ came to mind and all was explained .😉

They tried to play football on the deck, realised they’d run into Championship attackers having a sabbatical in L2, couldn’t get the ball, went 2-0 down. To counter this they decided to forego the footballing element and decided an MMA-rugby hybrid would be more effective, buoyed by the ref’s encouraging leniency.

My issue with the reffing is that other teams will see that and think “let’s just do that from the start, turn it into a street fight.”

Once again it’s the lack of consistency. If the “referee” deemed the shirt pulling and manhandling of Stockley did not warrant a foul, how did he deem the slightest brush on AFCW players to be bookable, Benicio in particular was hardly a foul never mind a card.

TBF I don't care how yesterday win came about I'm still scarred by the memories of them coming to Vale in the 80's during our promotion season when they were managed by Dave Bassett.  They were a horrible side to play against then, almost exclusively long ball, dark arts, time wasting, taking the ball into the corners to a level I'd never seen previously.  We did eventually beat them 1-0 through a Bobby Newton goal although hey did go on to win the division but a good number of points.

Had we gone behind yesterday I have hated to see us trying to break them down, I'm sure it would've been like Col Utd on steroids.

Thank you Josh Green for making me cry 😢

Same mate,so many fantastic memories...I also got a bit choked up when having my pic taken with the LEGEND and shaking his hand,I just had to think him for giving us so many good times and that got me as i thanked him

It's a great result if it stays at 2 - 0. But I'm getting a bit greedy and wanting my nephew Brandon Cover to get another. Might be even more greedy and wish he gets his hat trick. Port Vale still top of the league. Marvellous

Can we be really greedy and ask him to sign for us on a permanent basis please 🙂  he will go on to much greater things if he did

Yesterday’s access all areas video is quality. Atmosphere electric & spine tingling stuff.

Cover both aggressively kissing and pointing to the Vale badge after his goal.
