In a state of shock after the game yesterday, and couldn't make any sense of it all. Every emotion had been triggered in the 2 hours that elapsed during the game.
Having slept, I woke up with some thoughts 🤔
First half, we were playing the Dons away side, who would have come with a game plan to keep it tight.
We blew them away!
Second half, we played their home team, full of confidence and attacking intent based on 5 home wins out of 5.
After 15 minutes, we were holding our own at 1-1 (3-1), then it really went downhill, especially as Garrity and Stockdale went off. I felt very uneasy from that point onwards. We responded by shoring up the defence, but the midfield and attack were getting overrun. It was backs to the wall, and a massive relief at full time.
Some excellent, often very panicky and desperate, defending saved us. We could have sealed it with a breakaway goal, but didn't.
For all our depth of squad and changes of personnel, for me, the fulcrum has remained steady;  a combination of Garrity and either Byers or Croasdale. Having only one on the pitch showed that in this one, very strong area, we do lack depth.

Stockdale?

We need to leave somebody outside the box on corners and free kicks so we have an outlet and this will take pressure off our defence as they will have to leave two players back

Stockdale?

Oops 😃

I keep blending Stockley and Croasdale into one.

I meant Stockley.

I'll have it sorted by the end of the season.

I've got a bit of a problem with believing that any referee is biased, in the sense that they deliberately favour one team over the other, ie that they are corrupt.

I think the clown today was incompetent, but I don't think for a moment that he was corrupt

Corrupt is too strong a word. By saying biased, I meant I felt he was favouring the oppostion in his decsions, Perhaps he felt he should ensure equality on the pitch in the modern fashion - hopefully this woke approach won't catch on in football...

No referee is 'biased'. They genuinely couldn't care less about 4th tier football clubs. He would have had little to no view on Port Vale FC.

Some make poor decisions, and yesterday's did fairly often for both teams.

Some player he would be 😄

We definitely need to sign another target man type striker in January.  Stockley is crucial, both offensively and defensively.  In the ideal world yesterday both Garrity and Stockley stay on Heneghan and Curtis come on so we’ve got the added height and strength to deal with their threat in the air but DM would’ve had his reasons for the changes, Garrity hobbling for example.

Wimbledon reminded me very much of the Stockport side under Danny Bergara, certainly second half when they went more direct.

They always looked like they’d got a goal in them, and so it proved, but we have a real threat ourselves and we’re not going to lose many games if we score 3.

Tolaj for a start

Tolaj wasn't even on the bench 🤭

Ignore little lad. But good view of the action from the Bycars.
Great save by Ripley,

Also you can see why Ripley couldn’t see the ball from the free kick Shorrock ran across him at the worst possible time

Jason Lowe is so far below the rest of the squad it's quite damaging whenever he comes on.

Cover has played midfield for Leicester youth and Sang can play there too. I think we need to abandon Lowe trundling on and being about 3 seconds behind the play with less passing ability than most of the paying fans. A good pro but our midfield absolutely cratered the second he arrived.

Phil Sherwin in the Valiant Newsletter says that the earliest we can now be knocked off top is 16th November - which would mean 35 days at the top, which is the joint longest since 1969.

If we beat Gillingham or Morecambe then it would be outright our second longest stint at the top of the table since November 1969.
