Just look at the improvement in virtually everything PVFC from the day the Shanahans took over to now.

Just for the  record Carol says around 6 mins 30 secs, "First and foremost it's a football club and success on the pitch is what it's all about", so her main focus is clear although events on the pitch this season haven't gone to plan.

Exactly why recruitment has been so poor resulting in the current predicament in Lge 1 will likely never be known, If we go down it can/will be rectified.

The gulf between the haves and have nots in league 1 is enormous now. The standard is also way higher.  As is the level of unrealistic expectation (begging) of money they expect an owner to spend from their own pockets on the club. The Shanahans have invested way more than the sum of all owners in the clubs history.

That sounds different to her awful letter a few months ago. Wasn’t league 1 survival like number 11 on her list of priorities?

The Shanahans have done great things for this Club and we are incredibly lucky that they got involved. Their obvious and terrible error, was to trust Flitcroft and then to maintain that trust for far too long. Doing what they eventually did in removing him even a couple of weeks earlier would have made a big difference to where we are now. It's where their obvious loyaltly to their people has let them down in a big way.

We just have to hope we can stay up and then regroup next season under an new coaching set up that works for the Vale. They should consult far and wide in doing that, including with past Vale luminaries that were obviously and foolishly excluded in the recent past under the Flitcroft regime.

Everyone makes mistakes, it's learning from them and correcting what went wrong that matters now.

Flitcroft still a director.
Source: Companies House.
Are you sure he’s gone??
Updated today as of 21st March.

Take a while to go through the system.

We need a complete reset in strategy this summer.

Thinking we can beat Portsmouth and Bolton at their own game, on miniscule resources in comparison, was always doomed to fail.

Flitcroft as a company director is a residual issue to tidy up. In principle if he's not getting paid, he won't be active. There may be termination issues and payments to work through etc.

It does state he has resigned on the ‘people’ section?

They’re operating in a completely different financial climate. Folk comparing the club’s losses under her with Smurthwaite’s, when the financial landscape of football has shifted so drastically in the last 12 years.

Club’s have to lose over a million to survive, and several million to compete in League One. We simply can’t overlook that.

I’d much rather have Carol making mistakes and dutifully plugging the shortfall with good intentions, than I would a hedge fund on a leveraged buyout who would scarper when the losses exceeded a certain threshold.

I do agree, how any sane person thinks they can turn Carlisle United into a multi million pound, profitable business seems extraordinary.  There is a financial bubble in football right now which is clearly not sustainable.

593 I can't remember the details of the letter but remember seeing video of Carol give an emotional speech after a game and in hindsight the emotion may have been due to her realizing that DF's position had become untenable.

We got lucky with Clarke. He's the only reason we are where we are, at least for the next few weeks.

Since he was sacked, it's been an absolute bomb scare with ridiculous decision after ridiculous decision from comedy Carol.

I agree with that DC should never have been binned off it was a knee jerk decision

DC was a strong a character and some people at the club were threatened by that

It’s getting old now, this discussion about DC.
The man had to go , and he knew it himself. Time, and grief catches up with us , and he was in no fit state to carry on managing the club . It happens. I’m glad to see him right back in the thick of things again, and don’t we know it.

Think that's  bit pathetic Stamford.

When we have an owner who, for the very first time in my memory (1957 started watching) who has actually invested in the club rather than shafting it that is poor mate.

£11,000,000 is it at the last count?

If it was me and you were a typical fan I would just say 'uk you'.

Are you going to fill the gap?

The Shanahan's (particularly Carol) deserve our support at the minute IMHO

Dave, at what point will you begin to question the sustainability of these losses?  I'm certainly not lauding how much they are putting it, I'm bloody terrified.
