There are but like a lot of free agents, he hasn't played for months (last game Sept) and is recovering from injury. I suspect Pompey have added him to provide competition/depth and are not desperate for 90 mins from him. The difference with our situation is that since the window closed we've needed players who can start right away and most free agents are short of match fitness.

It's a chicken and egg situation - if you've got a well balanced squad like Pompey you can afford to take on a free agent "chancer" to potentially boost your squad. If you've got a threadbare squad like Vale then free agents aren't really much use as most of them will need some time to get fit and by then the season is going to be nearly over.

It's why the decision to not bring in any sort of striker (and LWB) in the window was complete madness and showed the club hasn't learnt at all from their previous transfer window failings.

Hasn’t played for months got an injury, we should have been all over that. The message from the club would have said,

’Cant believe we’ve managed to secure the signing of Lee Evan’s. Little Port Vale signing someone of his magnitude. We could have thrown in a 3 year contract, free entry to the viewing gallery at Westport Lake and as much meat as he and his family can eat supplied by Wayne Walkers.

I hate the thought of other clubs stealing our business model. 😡

Dwight Gayle scoring.

It would be hilarious if it wasn’t happening to us.

Ex-Stoke. Absolutely pillared for being an overpaid, overweight, out of form mercenary.

We were clambering for him to sign as our saviour.

He signs for Derby instead but is initially lambasted for being an overpaid, overweight, out of form mercenary.

Scores his first goal for Derby against….. yep, Port Vale.

we are a recent arrived first div. club, we haven't got a billion-air owner - to bankroll us, and we are top heavy in back room staff, hence being championship ready but we are only first div. and now struggling to stay in the first div. As for flitcroft and his staff monitoring players they might be but where are these players? we've needed players to improve our team in 3 windows, there was the lone players who did well for us but had to go back, as RZ's said there's only so much money in the pot its not going on players, its not going on the ground ie the toilets in the Railway paddock 3 months of porta loo's up to date  really? Hamill's toilets the other week a leak, closed for a match... but we are championship ready and the back-room staff are in place, all ready for the second div.

There is a limit to how much Vale can spend on the playing squad. Anything more than that can be spent wherever is felt necessary? R=The bogs issue has already bee mentioned and a rebuild seems much more logical than a patch up, followed by a rebuild?

We're too passive and nice.

Ought to be raucous united chanting v  Shrewsbury against this charlatan.

But there won't be. We'll have a corner, get all giddy, stand up if you love the Vale. Then spend the rest of the game apathetic before trudging out after another defeat.

At the moment fans realise the need to back the team, evidenced by the great vocal support again today.  Highly likely there’ll come a point in time when relegation is confirmed and being “passive and nice” will go out of the window.

Passive and nice sums up the players , we need some hard bar stewards out there.

I hate talking about that lot down the road but living this end of the city i have many friends who are sjoke fans and it appears that their new guy Mr Walters who replaced that singer Ricky Martin(similar role to DF) issued a big rallying cry for yesterdays game and my mates were saying it got the fans so up for it and ready for a battle, the ground was louder then its been all season and the useless(their words not mine for a change) players responded to give a performance which produced the 2-0 they were also desperate for

Now our DOF continues to hide

She's made it clear her feelings on him in her open letter. He's going nowhere and there's not much we can do.

Flitcroft before fans.

Fans will vote with their feet, the longer she backs Flitcroft the more it will hit her financially. Gates of 3,000 home fans next season will see us struggle and may well force her in to selling the club (not what I want). The longer Flitcroft stays the further the club will sink.

He hasn't thought about relegation. David says we'll be fine.
