Unofficial Vale are saying contract agreed

Hoping that's D Moore and not Nigel Kennedy if it's Kennedy

I will go into a proper meltdown just appoint an experienced manager and get us fans back onside

You in a meltdown? Give over mate 😀

It is more about the person who is DOF, I have seen nothing to suggest that he is a good DOF despite Carols ramblings.

Totally agree. A great DOF is a proven, excellent manager who has earned their wings. Flitcroft is just an average, lower league manager.

When Rudge did it for Stoke, he was a proven legend who commanded respect throughout the game.

No great or good manager would want to stake their career under Flitcroft, especially as the owners have made it clear he can do no wrong.

If I was a manager coming into any club I would want full responsibility for the players I was going to sign. Why ? Well because my job will probably be dependent on their success, bring in bad signings and the team struggles and im gone. If a DOF signs a striker for me then I get what he gives me , they fail , I get the sack, DOF who signed the striker I wanted stays.

That in my view sums up the Flitcroft / Ryan Loft situation perfectly. Although that can be repeated for multiple positions in the side.

I’d be happy with him running the other side of things regarding the facilities & infrastructure but like you say transfers & the way we play has to come from the manager. What happened to the old days when your manager worked alongside a scout to find the players they want 🤔

I think we need to lay off DF. The fervour on here is now too close to becoming a hate campaign. I know people are frustrated by player signings and where we are at the bottom of the league table. I am. But he doesn't deserve the vilification he's getting. At the heart of our issues is simply that running a football club is difficult. Most of the clubs we are competing with in L1 are about equal in size or bigger.

I will reiterate. Fleetwood signed two strikers this window after their manager was sacked days before and after their bankrolling owner went to prison for 13 years in the summer. Us not getting anyone in is a shambolic failure and deserves DF being moved on solely on that disasterclass alone.

Burton signed 4 forwards for <ovf censored> sake! Including Joe Hugill from Man Utd. How puzzling, they managed to loan a player from a top 6 club without the indispensable Flitcroft being involved. Modern science can not explain that mystery.

Football has changed a lot mate. It’s a lot of time and effort to deal with agents and contracts. I agree the Manager should have the final say, but it’s too much to ask for him to deal with everything else that goes with it.

Relegation rivals Fleetwood, Cheltenham and Carlisle all signed 2 strikers in this window, by the way, plus some attacking forwards.

Burton 4.

Charlton signed Ladapo because they're gambling on his wages costing a LOT less than going down.

Vale 0 as usual.

Anyone else think we will have an announcement at some point today or is there just me being an impatient, optimistic wally?

I'm with you bud, 1 o'clock news hopefully

Same as we haven't had a pre-match presser of any kind

Took their time with due diligence with a new manager? That should have been done 9 months ago.

9 months ago, we were a very attractive proposition for any manager.

9 months ago, we could have easily attracted the likes of Paul Cook, Pete Wild, all those kind of people that the fans would have got excited about and fully behind.

9 months on we are now scrapping the barrel with the names we are being linked with.

I'm still hoping that Flickers got one more trick in him to pull something out of the bag for everyone to sit up & say "yes, lets have it"

Bang on. We had chance of a total reset in the summer and bottled it.

The irony was that had we lost every game after Clarke’s sacking we would still of stayed up.

Crosby didn't reinvent the wheel in his 4 game tenure . We were safe regardless.

I would really hope that the club understands the need to appoint somebody today.  I am not in any way saying rush the appointment but there is huge level of urgency around this.  People talk about new manager bounce back.  We need 3 points tomorrow and to get this we need an experienced person in the dug out not a group of people who have just thrown into the deep end to make do !
