Think it’s time we cut ties with Jones now. He goes AWOL for months every season. He’s also another calamity waiting to happen too.

I find it bizarre how we are only willing to give Wilson these contacts he’s on (which is the right thing to do), yet Jones, who’s missed more time than Wilson since we signed them both, got a two year deal. I said at the time it was a bad decision as he’s the worst crock we’ve got.

In my years of watching the Vale, this type of result is one of the comfortable predictabilities, irrespective of who the manager is or the personnel on the pitch. As is the fact that we are capable of being on a crap run and then go and beat a promotion chasing team.  Win a game and we're chest pumping, lose one and the players aren't fit to wear the shirt and the manager should be sacked.

Some people moan if we're 19th in the league because they think we should be 14th, then some moan if we're 14th because we should be 9th

Crosby rightly gets stick after some of these poor performances, though pre season,  we were favourites to be relegated, but after half a season gone, our league position suggests that we may possibly not be relegated after all, despite having a manager who's in his first full season,  who many say is out if he's depth and is insane.

Having said that, looking at the Blackpool forum after the other night, our fans a are like pussy cats compared to them and the abuse they were dishing to Critchley. They also believe that their club should be doing better and perhaps they should, given their resources compared to Vales. May be we should ask them to swap managers, because Critchley fits our wish list. A manager who's experienced, knows the league and has got a promotion on his C.V, because everyone knows football is that obvious and guarantees success- if you don't believe me, ask Alex Neil or Gary Johnson or the next experienced manager off the rank.

and is insane.

Made me laugh that old fort [emoji4]
But your post is a great post tbf.
The never ending wheel of the Vale keeps turning, with moments of pure joy, extreme frustration and depression and of course absolute insanity [emoji1787]

Well Bimble, people keep quoting the definition of insanity don't they?😷

Any credit Crosby gained from the Blackpool result has quickly evaporated. He needs to go as does Smith.

Smith is and was a liability today, a number of times he missed his passes, missed tackles and gave away a needless penalty.

The defensive performance was questionable, down the left we were wide open.

How frustrating to lose at bottom of the table, when you win against Blackpool. Crosby had little clue how to how on to a lead today…

Jones is likely on a fraction of Wilson's wage. Not that that justifies throwing around two year contracts willie nillie

i like smith don't get me wrong but as i've said he's not league 1 standard but for people to say he's always been awful is just nonsense. Your hate to him is clear for all to see 👍🏻 all our defenders are league 2 level not just smithy

Smith was and deservedly player of the season last year and we were Division 1 then. By your reckoning then, we didn’t have 1 Division 1 standard player last season. DC did an amazing job then keeping us in the division.

The biggest problem we have, is that we only have 4 players of decent quality. Ojo, Garrity, Chislet and Clarke. And 2 of them are currently out injured.
Smith although not quality, can compete at this level if he is played in his correct position. But that appears a no no.
(And before anybody else saids, what about Wilson. Yes he has all the skills but his time out injured is woeful and when playing he is now constantly backing out of challenging for the ball. Leading to the opposition continually gaining possession they should not have. If he cannot physically compete, can we carry him.)
Devine and Arblaster are not our players and have been papering over the cracks all season.
We have got some really promising youngsters coming through. But good as they are, they are not quite there yet.
So that only leaves us two players of league one level if Devine goes. So I am coming to believe it matters not who is in charge or what system we employ. We haven't got the players to compete at this level.
So unless we have a decent transfer window, which will be hard as generally it is only the dross that gets let go in January. It could be a bit of squeaky bum time come April.

It's crazy that people are still vigorously defending Crosby with some of the performances and results this season. Take away the good start and it's been abysmal stuff, despite the odd decent home win here and there. I've never known a manager constantly make so many bad substitutions in games week after week that make absolutely no sense and cost us point after point.

He has to learn his trade somewhere. Maybe just like JR did. Rudge didn't always get it right and was very close to the sack until a certain cup game came along.

The bottom line is Vale haven't got a fanbase which provides a demand to get the best players and managers in...never have had. Carol is happy to run the club as a business but the progress of the club financially doesn't depend a lot on whether Vale win games...in the league anyway...and the ST money is already factored in....what is there to gain...the DOF is earning a great wage as are the players...and in May they will be off on their 'well deserved' summer hols

Maybe these people aren’t as fickle as your good self?

Smith is a decent division 1 center back with 2 reasonably paced wing backs alongside him. He is not nearly as good playing as a wing back. Crosby is not getting the best out of him yet DC seemed to last season.

Hey Neil,

You have been a Vale fan for many decades. Can you ever remember a manager splitting a fanbase like this?

Its very much a strange situation

I don’t think it’s that strange a situation.  We’ve seen it before when certain managers have had bad runs, which is obviously what we endured, albeit after a decent start, and many fans have wanted the manager sacked to halt the slide whilst others can see some logic to giving the manager more time.
