Welcome Dan to Vale Park! Hope you do well for yourself Port Vale and ultimately United . You have some big shoes to fill as the last two lads were special but I sure you are up for it.

As good as dictating the games Ollie & Alfie's goals & assists returns weren't anything special in fact slightly poor to be honest. I have a feeling Gore will be involved in goals a bit more 🔥

Absolutely and don't forget Weir can belt them as well. Only concern is if we can defend midfield as well as attack from it.

Ok.

So irrespective of whether this turns out to be a masterstroke or the biggest damp squib since squibs became damp, we have….

….signed someone in and around the Manchester United first team. Again, that’s Manchester United. Now they may be an utter shambles at the moment, but this is still one of the three/four biggest clubs in the world.

I have been as critical of Flitcroft as anyone and we’ve had some shockers in the transfer windows he’s masterminded, but credit where it’s due as this shows we are seen as good place for the young talent of the top clubs.

Anyway, welcome Dan and keep off that treatment table!!! 🙏

Gore should be getting regular games in the Man Utd first team. In the way Liverpool are doing this. Utd have blocked up their first team with expensive over the hill players and in some cases ones who have not worked out. Surely the reserve team player of the year should be brought through.

PV is a chance to clear the pathway. He will play regularly for PV and help make sure we stay away from danger at the bottom. Table topping Portsmouth is a good first game. We must also keep bringing through our youth players giving them plenty of game time.

Indeed, I expect him to be announced tomorrow, but will he have sauce on his oatcake and what colour? Or will he be cheese or bacon? It is a calamity. May ask on X and see the reaction.

Cheese OR bacon???? Nay lad - the OR is sausages or bacon...WITH cheese!!!!

I always thought cheese was a dead cert on an oatcake!

When I was small (70+ years ago) we always had golden syrup and butter on our oatcakes. But I agree, cheese is also great!

What are peeps expecting from Gore. assuming Arblaster > Devine, where does  he fit in? ^ Blaster, in between, below Devine? I expect he’ll be somewhere between passing wise, slightly more lightweight than Alfie, but be more of a goal threat than either. We’ll see. If he signs. Maybe he has signed, I haven’t checked.

I think he's more of a ballwinner and for that reason more robust than Devine but without the passing range. In other words where Devine's strengths could be seen as passing and then tackling, arguably Gore's are the opposite. I can't remember where I saw that assessment of him, but I remember whatever article it was praised his combative, never say die style while saying his passing choices still needed a bit of fine tuning. However, I have no idea if what that article was saying is true or not.

So, I see Weir as being the attacking player who creates chances (hopefully goals too) and plays further up with Gore behind doing the ball-winner role (now I've categorised him as some sort of modern day Andy Porter, he'll probably turn out to be a pass master who can't tackle now!)

However, if he is that breaker-up of play who can win the ball back then his attributes could really help tighten us up, playing that Ojo role in front of the back three.
