We've replaced three lost loanees with three potential as good / better players. Fantastic work

Now, we need to replace the striker we've lost and strengthen the existing positions we were looking to strengthen before we lost a load of players.

there's time still 👍🏻 i'm sure they'll be looking at a wing back & a striker. I'd be happy with that

Boro seeing the levels from the league above just like we did. Shame really i thought they played brilliantly in the home leg

I think he's more of a ballwinner and for that reason more robust than Devine but without the passing range. In other words where Devine's strengths could be seen as passing and then tackling, arguably Gore's are the opposite. I can't remember where I saw that assessment of him, but I remember whatever article it was praised his combative, never say die style while saying his passing choices still needed a bit of fine tuning. However, I have no idea if what that article was saying is true or not.

So, I see Weir as being the attacking player who creates chances (hopefully goals too) and plays further up with Gore behind doing the ball-winner role (now I've categorised him as some sort of modern day Andy Porter, he'll probably turn out to be a pass master who can't tackle now!)

However, if he is that breaker-up of play who can win the ball back then his attributes could really help tighten us up, playing that Ojo role in front of the back three.

I'm hoping he's Man Utd's new Paul Scholes.

Putting up as much fight as we did.

It's a reminder of the fact the Premier League is currently the strongest competition in the world. I know we didn't help ourselves playing Middlesbrough, but they were a good side playing slick football with a tight defence.

We could do a lot worse than taking a punt on Laurent Tolaj from Aldershot.

Scored again tonight which gives him 14 or 15 for the season. Only signed a one year deal in the summer so would likely be available for a reasonable price (although them selling Josh Stokes to Bristol City might make them a harder proposition to buy from at the moment).

Tommy Widdrington connection too. Hated him when he got sent off for nearly snapping JJ at Vale Park. Loved him for us.

yeah agreed there's a player in there for me. But if the attitude isn't right it's not going to work is it. Certainly enjoying his time at barrow now

Yep another player who made his first team debut at VP. 👍

Tommy Widd surely holds the club record for earliest red card? Couple of mins into a 3-2 defeat at Birmingham in the late 90s if memory serves me right.

I really struggle to get excited about an untried youngster coming in on loan. All being well he works out like Arblaster and Devine did.

You do have a point. We have seen us play teams of u23 Prem sides and we have blown them away. His experience of league football is limited and the evidence for it working out is based on the exceptional Arblaster and good, but occasionally less impressive Devine.

I really hope it works and it looks like it will be a solid addition but even with the successes of Arblaster and Devine, Flitcroft is in no place to be boasting about Vale as a success story for nurturing talent after half a season of two good loan deals. It isn’t even our talent, in fact it is the big clubs doing the nurturing as they just want their players to get games.

It all looks a bit dubious, begging around, seeing if we can scrounge any young prospect at a big club needing a game. It isn’t a strategy that is likely to see much stability and despite all of Flitcroft’s self congratulatory approach, we are still 18th in the league and I’m looking nervously down the table rather than up it. At the time of writing Exeter and Reading are winning.

From the Youtube video Dan Gore looks the type of player you would pay to watch, hope it goes extraordinarily well for him at Vale.

Gore, Weir, Chislett, Wilson, Funso, Garrity.....impressive.  I reckon we'll also get more of a tune out of Uche and Loft.

Need a striker and LWB now.

Going on vacay for 3 weeks and may not be able to see/listen to the games, I may cancel the vacay.
