Barnsley (A) match thread Sat Aug 5th

So here we go again.

Although we have one of the best records in the EFL for results on the opening game of a season clearly the fixture computer did us no favours by sending us to last seasons playoff final losers.

However Barnsley have not had the smoothest pre season with a couple of games called off and confusion around ticket sales. Even their own fans don't know when tickets will be released ?

The only thing I could find was the club have announced the game as a Cat C which usually means a laid back approach as the away club will only be bringing a small following.

Enjoyed the 1-1 draw last season and for 70 minutes we were up against it until Harrison scored with a close range header and it was then one way traffic with us nearly winning it in the last minute.

Same again will do with a handful full of fans in the away end ! 😇🤪

Tickets are a mess on this as I am not local if too late I will struggle to get one posted in time at this rate.

Being first game imaging a very healthy 4 figure following? Maybe 1500-2000?

We picked ours up from Barnsley last season as we bought ours late.. Its a decent sized  ticket office. So something you could think of.

It's poor. Barnsley fans have been rocking up at Oakwell for home tickets only to be turned away !  Clearly its not the Vale's fault.

Agree with that but The Yak instead of Jones for me. Can't imagine with Crosby banging on about we lacked size, physicality and a threat in the opposition box that he won't pick him.

They had a cash only turnstile open for the Tuesday night game last year. I can’t remember if it was a higher price on the day, though, it usually is.

Just going off what I've seen of him in a couple of friendlies. That's why I put Jones there. Hopefully he's like Leon Legge and comes to life in the proper games.

I personally do not think that AC will be that open with how he sets up especially away from home.

I think he will play with just the one striker and have Lowe in for an extra body in midfield with Garrity and Chislett between them supporting loan striker

When the tickets are eventually put on sale you will be able purchase online and basically any tickets that arnt collected or brought in person will get taken on coach and be able collect from the Barnsley away ticket office.

It’s not on to charge more on the day if they can’t get their backsides in gear to send tickets down in good time.
