Mainstream pundits are far better off financially than becoming managers. Wasn’t that what Andy Gray stated when he worked for Sky and he was linked with a managers role. He stated he was earning £40k a week at Sky at the time.

Yeah I seem to remember that when people would link him with jobs usually at one of the clubs he played for. It’s true though and it’s far less stressful and very minimal risk of losing your job. Worst that can happen is when Alan Hansen had the “you don’t win things with kids” line thrown back at him for a few years after United won the league. Think most can live with that.

I think it was the Stoke FA cup game 3-1, when the Regis shot got stuck in the waterlogged goalmouth at the Hamil. Him and Keys were commentating in a temporary commentary box on top of the Lorne st.

Without being a complete shambles the Blues have been a money pit and a mess for years. Another sjoke like club who think a big name manager will solve all problems.

Here's an idea for a very short thread - Successful top level player who becomes successful manager - Pep Guardiola, Ancelotti, Zidane (maybe)

Add him to the pile of successful players who failed at management

Steve Bruce (whilst we has had some success, never rated him)

Bryan Robson

Wayne Rooney

Steven Gerrard

Frank Lampard

Bryan Robson did ok I thought

Robson had accepted Middlesbrough's offer to become player-manager at the end of the 1993–94 season, and made a dream start to his managerial career as the club won the Division One title and promotion to the Premier League.

Fair enough he has had more success than most of the others on the list, although that success was backed by cash... Other than a promotion with Middlesbrough, where he also took the expensively assembled squad down, his other appointments have been suitably rank.

I see there are idiots on Faceache already suggesting we should get Roonie as a replacement for AC.  Sweet Jeeezzz

That would be so funny. Birmingham have said Rooney wanted to play out from the back but failed dismally as the players weren’t good enough. Sound familiar?

A few comments on Wales online and they're not happy appointing a lower league manager

He's looked great at County and I would have loved him at Vale but clearly has suitors a bit higher up. Was also surprised to see Chesterfields manager linked with a championship job instead of a top league two / league one team despite him having done it all before
