I agree and if he adds the same calibre of players as those he signed during the last close season we're in for another bleak season. Adams has missed a golden opportunity to get rid of a lot of dead wood and make a fresh exciting start in keeping with what's been happening off the field of play. Of course he will be judged on the players he brings in and the performance of those he has decided to retain but, given his track record, I'm not optimistic.

I was one of the many fans who sat their this season watching absolute dross football week in week out, I was maybe naive in hoping things may change

Stuck by the club!! What other option did they have? As for rewarding loyalty, it's a very noble gesture but there is no room for sentiment in football. Adams said that he didn't relish the prospect of showing players the door and,in my view, he's bottled it.

Chris Martin is no worse or better than at least 7 or 8 on the retained list.

My guess is that Micky is going for experience.

Is the fact that 16 have been retained due to the fact that we may miss out on potential 'better players' due to the transfer embargo? possibly so

We are looking sick if Rico and Grif go.

Was hoping for more going to be honest. Need 4 or 5 experienced signings to finish higher. So Martin began with a 6-0 defeat at Swindon and ended it with a 5-0 defeat at Swindon!

We are not yet out of Admin, but things are looking good. Until the new owner is confirmed, and the transfer embargo is lifted, things will be uncertain and I think MA has to be cautious. Let us hope for action in July rather than August, fingers crossed.

Hopefully he will bring in a decent 1st choice keeper. Johnson is probably on a few hundred quid less than Martin so it makes sense.

 

The only other one i would have released is Yates because he is a liability. Hopefully we will bring in another right back.

 

I reckon Griff is going but hopefully the rest will stay. Add 5 or 6 quality players to our squad and we will be up there next season especially when you look at the sides coming down.

I'd keep Griff, McCombe, Dodds, Rico, Tommo, Rigg, Shuker, McDonald and the two youth teamers Lloyd and Davis.

 

 

Williamson has got all the qualities to be a top striker (tall, strong, pacey) and Micky must realise that.

 

He is taking a big gamble with Haldane, he needs a good pre-season and get back to form.

 

Taylor plays in numerous positions, probably be used as a back-up (he is good enough to be a back-up)

 

Pope has the most assists (twice as many as Loft).

 

Kingsley James wouldn't be on much, probably be used as a reserve/ back-up player. Sensible decisions in my opinion.

some lucky boys in that retained list. Quite what Tomlinson has done to earn a new deal i don't know. Rob Taylor and Dodds have been lucky as well considering they are yet to prove themselves in however many years at the club. I would have kept Marshall.

Dodds, Pope, Williamson, Haldane and James should be released. They're mid-table L2 players and we will need significantly better to progress. If Griff and/or Rico leave we will have signed up the dregs while the only players good enough start to disperse. Even if all 16 sign up the remaining slots will have to be filled by better players to have any chance of 7th. What the **** is Micky doing signing half of them up?

If its only these 3 that have been released then Micky Adams is a joke, At a massive push I'd keep 4 players of the current squad, yet he has offered contracts to 16 of them. Ridiculous.
