Only 14 were starts and he didn't start post Christmas.  No doubt he has been a good player. He's only played 30 plus league games (33) once in the last 6 seasons. Maybe he has one last season in him although he isn't as quick as when he played at Crewe. He's 100% in the final stages of his career. He has been a reasonably regular goal scorer.

I’m not sure he would be expected to play 30 plus league games as a backup.

He sounds like a classic Askey pickup, a player in need who we can bring into the club, put our arms around and get him to contribute for a season.

In Askey we trust.

His record is far better than RB, don’t be shocked if he joins

I wouldn't be shocked in the least as he lives local. I can certainly see him training with us.

Nathan Thomas is a good player released by Sheffield United. I think his Mrs suffers from decompression sickness south of Sheffield, so probably rules that out.

I wouldn't be shocked if Askey waits quite late on this one. He's got options to cover the position so potentially he could wait until deadline day. He waited a long time to sign Brisley last season when he had a reasonable amount of centrehalf cover and no injuries to contend with.

Osedebe would be the perfect signing! and he is a free agent. He looks a great talent! and would be a very good investment!

Fingers crosssed.

Why would we sign a central midfielder to replace a winger?

Don't see the Osadebe link myself.

just think he can be very versatile and play all across midfield, very energetic player. Finding wingers isnt easy, and generally when you do they are very limited to their role. Just my opinion of course

If we're in the market for a backup winger - I'd like to see us go for a talented, raw, younger player to develop. Surely there are 100's released from clubs higher up if we've been scouting correctly?

A 33 year old Joel Grant would be a short term stop gap?

Actually, he may have someone lined up

He would be a good signing. Was carlisle best player down here last season. Even if his Steve Claridge style of socks Annoyed me 😆. He was Very tricky. He lives at trentham doesn’t he ?

I'd be disappointed if it was Grant, as you've said I'd rather take a chance on an up and coming player rather than pay Grant good money to sit on the bench.

McKirdy seems like an utter tool, was released from Carlisle for this reason, doesn't seem to fit with what Askey wants for the dressing room?

Isaac buckley-ricketts would be a hell of a gamble but if askey could get his head right he'd be a massive player at this level

Wouldn’t want mckirdy down the vale. Absalute <ovf censored>. Will only disrupt things

Hard to say who'll start up front.  Rodney looks very raw and missed a couple of chances,  Robinson didn't really get much service,  Cullen injured, the only certainty is that it won't be Pope.

Theo looked like he'd just arrived and hasn't had the benefit of a full pre season. He also had alot of chasing down, as Rochdale played it out from the back. So a tough day for him.

Rodney both looks raw and with lots of desirable attributes. He looked desperate to take a penalty. A goal could make a big difference. He did ok playing wide, but looked better down the middle.

Cullen came in and did a job last season. Seems to be able to get straight into it, so that's hopeful.

Having four, very different strikers is really useful. I suspect there will be lots of different combinations up front, with all contributing, rather than a first to fourth choice.

I guess that is why he hasnt got a club right now,as he does have talent but is a total cock
