I think criticism of Garlick is a little unfair,firstly working for Smurthwaite who makes decisions randomly must be very frustrating and secondly he can't just spout out everything he knows because of confidentiality,I get the feeling he feels if you could clear the decks he could get on with the job.

I think Garlick has his hands tied bearing in mind who he is working for, we have all probably worked for people in the past who if they weren't paying us we wouldn't cross the road to speak to. Should he still be working for him is another question. Having said that if you have the job title he has then it comes with certain responsibilities even if you are only a puppet. OK he may not need to know who the club owner is trying to sell the club to, should do out of courtesy as its not a minor matter but it is the owners to sell. However players movements surely fall under his job description.

You don't really sell youth players anymore there's a compensation formula in place if the player and guardians want to move clubs. Why someone from Stoke wants their under 16 son moving to, or commuting to Southampton to play football is baffling. Particularly as they're obviously progressing well where they are.
