Maybe its negative because its been a rubbish 2.5 years.

If you see your role as a supporter as passively accepting whatever turgid fare is served up, then be my guest. I'm fairly content with demanding more than what we've had since Page left. In fact, I see it as my duty as a supporter to demand more than what we've got, as PVFC is far, far better than this.

I understand your stance, I would differ in that yes we all want utopia but realise it isn't going to happen overnight, it has taken us 3 yrs to get in a lowly position and it will take longer to get out,, first things first is safety this year after last then improve again- it is boring / negative but it is where we are and need more expressive players to achieve greater things but as always there will be a ceiling

One thing that does grind with me and it isn't just vale or this very poor level of football, is when defenders or midfielders just head the ball back when they have the opportunity to control with the chest then play with their foot a more meaningful pass i presume these players either cost money or at risk losing it as its not in their play currently so it looks like safety first but is annoying.

today we gained a point where we had none last year and had more decent spells than when at Oldham on Saturday so hopefully some positivity even though we only drew today

I support the team too.

I just think we could be doing a lot better as a club.

Not mutually exclusive.

In my view 'supporting' a football club is wanting the best for them, and doing what you can as a fan to achieve that.

Supporting a football club, in my book, isn't blindly accepting the current set up, whether than be chairman, manager, or players. Obviously, I want these three factors to succeed, but if they're underperforming (which you could argue at least 2 of the 3 are), in my view its only right I challenge that and demand improvement, and failing that, change.

If we differ on what being a supporter is about (in my view the supporters are the club, not external observers who must clap and cheer at opportune moments), then we'll have to agree to disagree on this.

I agree it is going to take time to extract us from this mess.

Just winds me up this situation was completely avoidable and its going to take us years (at the rate we're going) to get back to where we were.

Getting a bit tired of it all now.

What a ridiculous thread. Correct me if I’m wrong, but football is supposed to be entertainment isn’t it?? And entertainment generally comes from watching your team try and attack does it not? So I don’t think it’s too much to ask the team do a bit of attacking. The scored column is truly pathetic.

I think somewhere along the lines that message gets lost in the money-rules, win-at-all-costs game we have nowadays.

Its the constant negative attitude and comments from so called supporters that gets at me. We are where we are, a league 2 club and we have just secured a point away from home against another league 2 club, who cares if we didnt look good going forward or if a percentage of our goals are scored from open play. Get a life people...

We will agree to disagree mate.

Hate the man personally, hate him breathing the same air as the rest of us but i am as passionate about my club as the next man but i am also a realist, i just support the Vale, and i dont think anyone "deserves Smurthwaite"!!!

Heres an idea why not just to make some people happy, lose every game and get relegated because im sick and tired of all the negativity that comes with supporting Port Vale FC.

Why cant we all just support the team its that simple???

Mentality of a loser.

Stevenage got less than 2,000 fans at the game last night and we couldn't beat them. Look at all the teams on half our gates yet are miles better than us. How? What are we doing with the extra revenue our higher gates get? Not to mention the £2.4m we have received since January 2017.

The club is massively underperforming in L2 and it all boils down to the clown at the top.
