And in Aspins current position you would be very careful who you made assistant manager. Someone who is less skilled but has your back or someone very skilled who could fill your boots.

Am I being cynical here, but with modern football as it is, would not Pugh's promotion be at the approval and or EVEN behest of Aspin. If so does it negate the possibility, as could and does happen regularly with many experienced number twos, that if things go wrong on the pitch, there would be no danger of him taking the managers job?

Pugh has shown some commitment to coaching over the last 12 months so I don't really see giving him a few months is an issue. Plenty of experience under a number of managers. Played in all 4 leagues. A playerall his managers have always spoken well of. We're paying him anyway. Interesting it's him and not Tongue whose been given the chance.

If you were listening to Radio Joke tonight there was an interview with Aspin about Brabin's departure and he was talking about the need to have trust in your management team because there is so much back stabbing in football. Perhaps he trusts Pugh?

What does any business do when somebody leaves? Move an employee into the job, share the work out, decide whether to fill the job permanently, advertise the job etc. How many days has it been?
