As you say, in YOUR view, that's different to my view. By the way I'm British always have been and always will be , no documents I own says that iam European .

By the way,2016 order for 640 BRITISH military vehicles to be manufactured using WELSH steel. Two months later the EU stepped in and told that Sweden must supply the steel. EU looking after us.

Specialist steel competitively tendered as EU rules determines, lowest price wins. Not going to change for a while. Really annoying if Chobham armoured steel being used.

So you don't have a current British passport, UK driving licence with a photo or an EU health card?

As for the steel regarding the military vehicles, which are to be mostly built in Wales by an American company, General Dynamics, here are some statements from 2016 by those involved;

General Dynamics UK issued this statement: "The UK Ministry of Defence has set stringent requirements for ballistic survivability and integral strength for the AJAX vehicles. As such, the market for this specialist steel is limited.In 2010, when the steel was first sourced, no UK supplier met the necessary requirement. Any additional steel requirements are openly competed within the UK and the European Union. Successful bidders must meet the protection requirements as the safety of our soldiers is our first priority."

A Ministry of Defence spokeswoman said: "The Ajax contract is a huge boost to the Welsh economy, sustaining 550 jobs and delivering £390m investment. The vehicle requires two main types of steel – one is not made in the UK and the other will be sourced through a UK company. UK suppliers provide significant quantities of steel for defence – including 94% for our two new Aircraft carriers.”

Hardly a dictat from the EU, more to do with how our own MOD operate and the long term lack of investment and protection of the British steel industry by various governments, especially Tory ones who didn't believe in any nationalisation or public investment in manufacturing unlike other countries such as Germany, France and, dare I say, Sweden. But, hey, lets not let the truth and reality get in the way of a fantasy about an independent British utopia.

Here's a big chance for Brexit to demonstrate how we will forge our economic future post EU by getting some of our dole-claiming surplus labour to fill the gaps in the labour market and pick some fruit. If we don't have 'Johnny Foreigner' to come and do it we'll have to get the indigenous unemployed on the job. Will they be up to it, or even up for it?

SOTT, thanks for your full reply. I cant remember the name of the Tory minister who gave away the rights to manufacture Chobham the specialist tank steel.

I'm not sure who it was either but it's a great example of giving away / selling the family silver. Can you imagine the Yanks sharing that kind of thing with us?

Correct and the majority have voted for the less **** option.

My point being that you can be against brexit without being a fan of Europe. Which explains why some remainers focus on what they do. Better the devil you know. And to be fair, it’s a bit daft expecting otherwise, because if you vote to remain you are voting for what we already have, not anything new. Where as brexiteers did make lots of claims why we should leave, but they were mostly lies and untruths.

Which lies were those?

Specifically, for example, we know the lies emblazoned across Fat Boris' Bus but I'm struggling to recall anything on a par with that from the Remain campaign.

The biggest whopper they told was that we'd be better off staying in the EU.

All they do is give our money away.

Both sides lied, that’s what politicians do! Just you as many other remainers fail to notice the lies that the likes of Osbourne, Brown and many others came out with.
