Just looking at tonight’s games and in 15 National League and National League fixtures, there are 12 teams out of the 30 that have played in the football league in my living memory having seen most of them in games at Vale Park. In the National League there are Aldershot, Dagenham, Tranmere, Barrow, Hartlepool and Leyton Orient (some may even remember Gateshead). Worse still, there are six in the league below being Boston, Bradford PA, Stockport, York, Southport and Kidderminster.

Just shows how perilous our position might have been when Baldrick and his cronies Kelly and Morgan were our leaders.

very true,,Think macc town can be promoted tonight dependant on tranmere result, with bury already down could be some good away days especially if other near clubs , Rochdale, walsall, oldham get relegated or the likes of tranmere, wrexham can get promoted

I remember Vale beating Gateshead 4-0 away from home and 8-0 at Vale Park.

Chesterfield defeat edges us closer to safety.

We can’t finish bottom due to Barnet playing Chesterfield last game

If that game ends in a draw we can’t go down

Chesterfield need four wins from four

Barnet three wins from three plus 13 goal swing

Grimsby need to get two draws and a win in three, any defeat and they need to win twice

FGR play both Grimsby and Chesterfield so either of them getting a run to over take us likely involves beating FGR who need four points to overhaul us (they face Luton and Yeovil Away also)

One point with such a large GD advantage on Saturday means we are as good as safe regardless.

If we lose Saturday failure to win of both Chesterfield and Barnet puts us on the beach anyway.
