Ryan Boot???

After listening to Aspo's after match interview is there a Football League reason why Boot can not play?, i think Aspo touched on the subject earlier, although he was on the bench today?.

I would rather have him in the 11 rather than a guy who only met his teamates 2 hours before kick off and in 7 years if football has only made 35 appearances!!!

The reason is he isn't very good himself. Never really impressed when selected and he's been here under 4 managers now and not had a look in.... must be a reason why...

I wonder if playing would have meant his appearance tally would prevent us getting an emergency replacement thus committing us to playing him continually in Lainton’s absence. Prime face I’d have picked Boot, at least he knows the other players

Your first sentence I agree with.

Boot made a daft mistake against Derby in a pre-season friendly when he came out for the ball with all the conviction of a wet lettuce. Aspin and Brown see him in training every day and clearly believe he isn't ready.

Today's goalkeeping error would not have happened had the keeper and defenders had time to train together.

Everybody has yheir oppinions BUT cmon is he really worse than anh of the other 4 keepers other than lainton?, to start behind a guy who arrived at the club today. Ive seen a good amount of reserve games ( yes i know reserve games) he is not any worse than roos or todays clown. It just takes up one of the 5 loan players in a squad and a complete waste.

Emergency 7 day goalkeeper loans are only available to clubs without a senior goalkeeper who has made 5 appearances, so presumably once Boot has done that Vale could no longer loan a goalie. Presumably they are unwilling to be dependent on Boot until January should both of our regular goalies remain unfit.

I say play Boot and if he doesn’t cut the mustard get him a fake sicknote, then get an emergency replacement.

The lad is inexperienced, Gunning was not.

 

The lad didn’t know the players names and met them a couple of hours before the game. All Gunning had to do was clear the ball, instead he stood there like a dummy and let his man run round him.

 

Some clown on P&G text in to blame the keeper for two goals.
