We're told he's a pathological liar who lied about meeting a dead man. Why should we believe his comment to the sentinel (with whom he has had big issues with in the past).

 

It seems that if he says something we don't like we can take him at face value yet when he says something we like then we don't believe a word he says.

 

I wouldn't put it past him to be trying to get one over the sentinel here.

 

I also wouldn't put it past him to be bigging up a rubbish appointment on twitter the other night having woefully misunderstood, or disregarded the opinions of the fan base.

 

I can't believe that we've had zero contact with Aspin or Gateshead. Whether or not I still believe he is coming I don't know.

 

I'm just sick of the hypocrisy on here as much as I'm sick of the turmoil surrounding the club.

 

I agree, except for the hypocrisy part. But the explanation for Smurthwaite telling the Sentinel Aspin isn't in the running and then appointing him as manager a few days later.... Classic Smurthwaite.

 

That's what makes sense most in my eyes as things stand. Smurthwaite lies to the Sentinel in a failed attempt to make the newspaper he hates look bad by getting it 'wrong'... Not realising that doesn't actually work when they are quoting you verbatim.

Out of interest, which manager with a track record of success in the league do you want. People wanted the likes of corterill which was pie in the sky. A manager that has that experience and will come to a team in a league 2 relegation fight will be a manager who has a number of failures and needs to rebuild his reputation. Someone like ince. I do it myself sometimes maybe, but some still envision the club as it was in the second tier.

 

I didn't think we would get Micky Adams when he was appointed but that's the caliber and experienced manager Vale need right now if one can be enticed to come. Anyone who is appointed will likely have baggage including Neil Aspin.

Is it him playing the sentinel at the same time as well as putting off potential competitors for Aspin's signature?

I don't know if it's for that reason. I've been told that the Gateshead chairman is on holiday and nothing is expected to get sorted quickly. Maybe this is why Norman is playing his game.

So youre only example youve given on this thread has been adkins. Absolute pie in the sky. We arent a championship club anymore. We are a team with a **** squad on our way to the conference. Its on thing to disagree with a certain manager, but dont use pipe dreams as a reason to.
