Neil Aspin

Robbie Earle's Perm

I don't know if it's for that reason. I've been told that the Gateshead chairman is on holiday and nothing is expected to get sorted quickly. Maybe this is why Norman is playing his game.

Could also be true than that Smurthwaite doesn't want to play his hand and have the Gateshead chairman know it's Aspin or nobody for the Vale. So he wants the Sentinel to look bad, wants to avoid the Gateshead chairman thinking he's got him over a barrel... or maybe he's changed his mind or maybe Radio Stoke's sources are misinformed. Don't know what other explanations there could be but, as I keep saying, just because Norman says something doesn't mean it's true. That is usually a bad thing but on this occasion is something of a positive!

We're told he's a pathological liar who lied about meeting a dead man. Why should we believe his comment to the sentinel (with whom he has had big issues with in the past).

It seems that if he says something we don't like we can take him at face value yet when he says something we like then we don't believe a word he says.

I wouldn't put it past him to be trying to get one over the sentinel here.

I also wouldn't put it past him to be bigging up a rubbish appointment on twitter the other night having woefully misunderstood, or disregarded the opinions of the fan base.

I can't believe that we've had zero contact with Aspin or Gateshead. Whether or not I still believe he is coming I don't know.

I'm just sick of the hypocrisy on here as much as I'm sick of the turmoil surrounding the club.

Trying to defend Smurf deceiving the local media and the fans.

You're a shambolic mess. Give up pally.

I know Aspin is a Vale legend and will possibly galvanise a shrinking and volatile fan base but Gateshead are hardly pulling up trees in the National League while Macclesfield, whose manager we apparently don't want, are in 4th place.

I only hope that the one appointed from Smurf's three exceptional candidates can sort the playing side out and get the supporters back on track. Somehow, with Smurf's track record, I doubt it very much.
