It baffles me why theses high profile,well paid sportsmen do such stupid things.Who will be next?

 

Without him we can say goodbye to the Ashes and I think his ego knows it.

 

They just think they are invincible, football is full of them, look at what Steven Gerrard for instance allegedly got away with in Southport.

Because they're talented on the field of play, but in some cases, not too bright off it. In the case of Ben Stokes, having read his interview in last week's Times magazine, I feared the worst when he was quoted as saying that he would continue " to have a few beers during matches". Once a high profile person puts themselves into a position where the public can take a 'pot-shot' they take an unwarranted risk! Whatever the outcome of this particular incident (and from further reports/videos this morning, it doesn't look good) all high profile personalities should think very carefully about their future public socialising!

Disappointed with Ballance and Ball especially as there is no Mark Wood unless he's injured in which case his place should have gone to Plunkett for raw pace on those pitches.

 

I'm doing the two first tests and maybe a cheeky trip to Perth too (watch out Barry!).

I am at the Boxing Day test. Hoorah!!!!! A lifelong dream. I don't know how England are fairing but Australia are at the lowest I have ever known. If England are half decent then the Aussies won't win a test.

Agree with the consensus, not sure what the clamour is to keep picking Ballance. Root's best mate by the looks of it! How many chances does he need, I just don't think he's up to it at test level?

To be fair what you don't see (typical British press) is the idiot threatening Hales with a bottle.

 

That said he went way overboard and should lose the vice captaincy which will probably go to Broad or maybe Bairstow.

Keeping my fingers crossed that England get off to a decent start.

 

I think it's closer than most of the Aussie players seem to think.

 

For me, they better hope none of their injury-prone pacemen pick up a knock. The one thing England have over the Aussies is even without Stokes, we have all-rounders in Woakes and Ali that give us bowling options. They appear to only have three paceman and the (under-rated) Lyon.
