Senior Citizens in football

Of course not Mark. These old folks have funded the club in the past and therefore deserve both consideration and respect. I very much doubt you would see any other type of institution treating a chunk of it's fanbase in such a way! What's next- a throw back to racial segregation and not letting black people in!?!

The bloke from Arsenal wants a right public dressing down. What a weapon

Ivan got a ovation from shareholders for that comment!

I can see why clubs with a long waiting list of potential season ticket holders don’t offer concessions to OAP’s. If you can sell a seat for £50 quid twice over, why have it tied up all season for £25, makes no commercial sense at all. Mr Johnny come lately owner could not give a toss how long you have supported them, that figure won’t show on the balance sheet.

We all know that in the upper echelons of football the average supporters are predominantly nothing more than an annoyance to the owners & boards.

Down at the lower end of the football world, you would have thought that any chance to put bums on seats would be a winner.

Here’s an idea for the new dynamic board with their wealth of business acumen. (Guess who’s been on a course today to help my transition to civilian life). Quite a lot of the younger generation in Stoke on Trent will have fallen for the lure of the Premiership down the road, who can blame them really.

However there is another generation that not so many years ago as youngsters would have happily watched both the teams at home in the area. Some might even like the chance to see live football again instead of listening to RS. There is a huge untapped market out there, just need the prices to be right.

On a plus side if all the blue/grey rinse brigade are at the football on a Saturday, just think how quick working folk can get around the supermarket. It’s not like they have been busy all week.

I have to admit I am disappointed that there is no discount for pensioners, I feel as if we have been overlooked and it should be reviewed for next season.:(:(

They need to get as much money out of you as they can before you're gone, Sting can understand them robbing you.

They're getting absolutely nothing out of me and many others at the moment. Is that as much as they can?

Sting rekons they make up for it by robbing others. :D

Can you tell Sting when this become a big deal for you? Sting is just curious, nothing else.

The pricing structure may be changed next season ISO, that will be nice won't it?

I feel the same.

The older generation are getting a rough deal all round at the moment with certain establishments breaking the law over their treatment of the elderly.:(

That's class! :D

...but, Fabio still managed to get in with an under 18's season ticket last season, I reckon the oap's could probably get away with it to.

There are a few stereotypical comments made about senior citizens... but what defines a senior citizen? or a pensioner for that matter?

Pensioner is easier... someone who receives a pension perhaps?... how about a private pension at 50? or a widows pension at 30? or is it just a state pension [or state pension age] which seems to move the closer you get to it.

Senior citizen is a difficult one... to my kids I have always been a senior citizen as they are to their kids.. lets remember that some great out of the box thinking has been done by "senior citizens" possibly because their peer group is so small they dont have to impress them with smart remarks to climb the social ladder. Their social group is small enough for them not to have to follow the pack in order to be recognised or accepted.

I am retired, I have been for some time but then Im a radical pensioner/senior citizen.

Keep up.

There is a reduction in the pay on the day price but not in the ST.

This makes it dearer for me to get a ST than to pay on the day.

The thought of watching the current team doesnt inspire me much to be honest, but if I had a ST I'd probably make the effort. Last season I probably wouldnt have gone to many games after New Year if I hadnt already paid, as the football was awful.

IMO the standard of play doesnt warrant a price of much over £10. Its only my love for the club thats kept me going. This is one of the worst squads in over 50 years.
