Matchday Thread: Port Vale v Shrewsbury

The rookie boss has to make a big decision Friday and this is what good managers are made of. He has to drop the dreadful keeper and play somebody else. Otherwise I can only see a Vale 1 shrews 2 scoreline.

Anyone know whether the other keepers would do better?

Don't pay too much attention to others there are going to be lots of twists and turns and I'm sure a team which look safe now will get dragged into it.

If we concentrate on ourselves and start to pick up pts our recent performances have suggested we can do, we will stay up. I can see a very different Vale team over the past 4 weeks where we are starting to grow in confidence and the team spirit is getting better. Hopefully a couple of key players coming back from injury in the next few weeks and we sing our hearts out for lads we can do it. score Prediction Vale 3 Shrews 1

Keep the faith

i agree with most of the post MBE, but can't understand after finally getting that elusive win instead of going on the front foot we pretty much let Cobblers dictate the first hour.

To me confidence is still fragile.

I think it will be as clear as daylight in 3 weeks time, by then we will have played Shrews, Cov, MK, Wimbledon, Chesterfield.

We can only concentrate on ourselves or like me on Tuesday you end up bitter and twisted towards the likes of Bristol Rovers and Oxford !!

You could see at the end on Tuesday how deflated the players were. They all, including Browny came over to us and gave us an appreciative clap. Faces on some players said it all, they were gutted.

I think the spirit is definitely there even if the skill is lacking. Hopefully that can keep us going in these upcoming crammed weeks of football. Someone in that lower region will have a terrible run in of results so if we ALL keep going who knows?

Starting on Friday a win will actually make others, including the Shrews take note. Vale 2 Shrews 1.

Win tomorrow and Tuesday and we'll go above Shrews.

Some intruiging possibilities.

We have the 2 games this coming week, then are off due to Walsall.

Oldham go to Posh then host Sheff Utd on the day we have no fixture.

If for once all fell into place we could be above or level with them with 3 games in hand still

but it is all ifs and buts.....

i live in hope

Well after the terrific efforts of every fan last home game vocally we r unfortunately because of tuesdays giveaway having to double our voice levels in a positive way .

Team well u wouldnt play the goalie .

Play the English lad he is local he is Vale .

Boot

Guy Smith Streete Knopps ( or Kiko ))

Foley Pugh

Shopilodi Eagles Thomas

Hooper

Lets get at it whoever plays is irrelevant its how they play is what counts .

Cecelia and Forrester about 65 mins for Hooper and Thomas .

Hope the fans turn up from both sides,if u a Shrew u should be relishing it but be warned we aint as bad as what some folk on this forum make out and if Big Reggie is at it then he is capable of absolutely anything .

The fans r a credit to the club and we will rise again make no mistake about it .

Defeatist this time next week Vale will have 6 points ,negativity breeds negativity so if u a single man and woman and u think u r ugly then thats exactly what u r but if think u r beautiful u will attract lots of admirers .

Vale r beautiful at playing football and every player is now a galatico .

VFIA, you are wonderfully optimistic and refreshingly insane to read your comments. A bright spark in a poor season. Keep at it mate, we are all behind you. UTV.
Nerves of steel required, we will probably only make it by a point from an unexpected venue.

I've been encouraged with what I've seen at Southend and Northampton, and by all accounts e were decent in the second half v Swindon.

This is still in our hands, we're slowly but surely starting to score goals (haven't drawn a blank in 5 matches) and a win on Friday would make it 7 points from 4 matches. It's frustrating that the teams above us have suddenly sparked into life (especially dismal Oldham) but we can reel in others, such as our opponents tomorrow. We've actually only lost 5 of our 18 home matches (and only two of them by more than one goal) so we should be approaching every match at VP with positivity.
