The "£4.6m" training ground

Twitters

Recommended Posts

There seems to be a bit of a misunderstanding from many on here that Blue Sky were giving Vale £4.6m towards a training ground, and quoting the Sentinel to back that up. However, there's a misunderstanding of what the Sentinel says:

According to Vale chief executive Perry Deakin, they will spend a further £4.6m developing training facilities at the former Chatterley Whitfield sports ground, fund completion of the Robbie Williams Suite and the Lorne Street Stand at Vale Park, and engage in unspecified commercial deals with the club.

So the £4.6m is not going on just CW, it's also going to complete the stand, and other commerical deals too.

That sounds a lot better than many are making out, and would help Vale in the long run.

The key point remains. How is the £4.6 million being funded?

If it is grants, then it won't be available to spend on the completion of the stand I suspect.

If it is loans, then on what terms?

Because one thing is crystal clear. Only £400k can be in equity investment due to the 24.9% rule.

Hopefully the SC will find that out tonight, but a good question.

if it improves us a club then i dont really care.. the politics and nitty gritty is getting boring. Twitters is right.. If the money coming in is to improve the football club then its great news and we should accept it and not try and put a negative on everythingt which some seem intent on doing

So if it is £4.6 million of debt, at an interest rate of 20%, you wouldn't care?

I would because if it were the above we'd be down the swanny in the blink of an eye.

I can only apologise if being a realist is seen as 'negative'. However there is some fundamental questions that need answering because as it stands, something doesn't stack up here when our own articles limit what can actually be invested to £400k.

Jesus twitters, does picking pointless holes in the article make you feel better for being a hypocrite?

Having only just read the sentinel article, my early optimism has been eroded by the fact that deakin and Lloyd presume we are stupid (having said that, most are it seems). £8 million...really??? To think I was hoping to go tomorrow if the news was positive about the investment.

I just wish someone would say " actually the £5m or £8m is actually going to be made up in the form of council/government/regeneration etc grants."

This way, at least some fans wont be thinking £5/8m is actually being pumped into the clubs accounts.

This amount of money is certainly not coming from Bluesky themselves. The most they personally will invest is probably the £400k ish for 24.9%.

Except I'm not a hypocrite so your post is flawed from the start.

No you are right...you're a patronising hypocrite. All together now...'you can shove your season ticket up your...'

I sung it once at one protest in the heat of the moment well over a month before I got a season ticket. People can change their mind. But hey ho, such is life. I don't regret it for a second.

Christ on a bike, Twitters! Did this really need a new thread? Read the Sentinel article from yesterday and stop being so ****** pedantic. I bet you've burnt your black and gold scarf now as well.

I thought it was the women who did crazy things during pregnancy not the bloke!

But why do we need a new training ground.

Probabley because:

1. To achieve academy status and develope talent for the future

(Just my opinion and guess)

2. No more problems in winter when the current is frozen over

3. The biggy. Modern training pitches are excelent and will overall and over time

Improve standards on the pitch as training improves.
