It seems like the smurf bashers have some 'elitist' gene that allows them to be little other fans who have a different view than them sad *******

Or maybe they care about the club so much they don't like it when people support him unconditionally, even when it's clear he's damaging the club.

 

The only conclusion I can come to is that those that go out of their way to support him are either; wums, have a business related interest in him remaining, aren't very bright, hate PVFC, or a combination of each.

Vale Park is hardly a hotbed of anti-Smurthwaite protest, is it?!? If Bell or Bratt had pulled some of the stunts Smurthwaite has done, they would have been run out of town by now by angry mobs with pitchforks and flaming lanterns!

It's more the constant bickering and division of fans that is off putting Tomo. When one group of fans is calling the chairman every name under the sun and the other group is just wanting to go to the games and is getting called happy clapper/blind/etc etc for not wanting to join in with the chairman bashing. This forum fuels that fire considerably...it's been going on since 2010ish and it can't be helping.

 

 

 

What about the significant number who criticise the chairman (as you say) but also want to go to the games and see Vale do well and support them, MB and the players ?

 

Popular and informative as OVF is, there are only I would guess about 1 in 3 Vale regulars who come on here more than once a week (if that) or so and could even be remotely influenced on whether they would attend a game, even then most people have their own views and are not sheep.

Its very hard to not be elitist when Smurf keeps proving us right, again and again, in the face of fanatical devotion.

All I want is for him to sell the club and ground, at a reasonable price, to someone with a plan.

 

If he dares destroy our club by refusing to fund it anymore, simply because some people on a forum disagree with his decision-making, then surely you'd struggle to defend that? The fact you think we should walk on eggshells and worship everything he says, just to ensure we don't liquidate, is indicative of your near cultish devotion to the man.

To survive and move forward everyone from fans to Smurf need to pull in the same direction regardless of opinions on each other. If we don't we will only go one way if Smurf won't turn it around or sell it.

Why is this a mantra? Why is this being considered? Port Vale has been around for over a century, why are we pandering to a man just because people think he'll let us go under?

 

Any who argues this as a reason for backing Smurf needs to look at themselves. If they see withdrawal of funding for the club as a viable response to criticism, then we're done.
