Best midfielder we've had in years, on his day. Sad to see him go but 'his day' seemed to be getting rarer and rarer.

Rudgie used to say he tried to add quality to the top whilst skimming a few of the lesser players from the bottom. I'm a bit concerned that we're skimming the quality off the top. For gods sake Norman, get Foley and Streete on new contracts.

Largely because we've had to endure some absolute dross in the middle of the park.

 

While I agree he can be a force on his day, he can also be somewhat of a liability with his ball hogging in bad areas of the pitch, and although it wasn't really his job you can count his goals and assists for a midfielder on one hand and still have fingers to spare!

Once he decided to go there's no point wanting to keep a player but he was a very important player for us in terms of his defensive abilities. He could head, tackle, chase back, harry, break up the play and protect the young centre backs.

Ok he's gone and we move on but he did a good job for us and won't easily be replaced.

At his best he was a Championship player and there's a reason why they've paid 100k for someone who was out of contract in June. He was a good player.

That's my worry as well Sage,we are weak defensively even when Alnwick was in the sticks and Grant breaking play up, the next couple of hours could be crucial to the rest of the season

We've played well and defended successfully before we signed Grant and we will again. If any manager can sort out that combatitive midfielder role, it's Michael Brown.

At the moment perhaps Guy and De Freitas, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that combination.

I don't get the idea that De Freitas can play as a pivot in the midfield. He isn't that sort of player at all.

Good player when he wants to play. Been evident he wanted out and although very good to get 6 figures is excellent.

Hope he gets on at Posh and the chip is gone, but not when we play them.

Champ player but never been higher than L1 has is? Wont with Peterborough either. he will be back in L2 in 1-2 years. 29years old, knocking on a bit now for a combative midfield role.

I don't care what anyone says - he will be very much missed and prob one of those that we didn't realise how good a job he did for us until he's gone.

Some of the suggestions of who could fill that void from the current crop is laughable.

Let's hope MB has an ace or two up his sleeve as two senior pro's gone is a big hit to take.
