New manager??

The first thing Smurf should do is enlist some help from someone like Phil Sproson and/or Ray Williams etc in choosing a manager. They both know and care for the club and both are savvy guys, particularly PS. I just sense this is a really important appointment for the Vale and it must be got right.

I am completely sure thank you. Ainsworth came from Lincoln having previously played at Preston so no idea how you base Vale accepting a 2 million odd bid to him wanting to go South.

 

He was born at and started his career at Blackburn. So his roots were from the North West.

I know this is off the cuff. But watching Stoke lose at Liverpool last night, apart from all 5 goals coming from errors, the most striking thing was that Liverpool were significantly fitter than Stoke. Given the Kilometers run, we are talking 10% fitter. So, translating that to Port Vale, and given our lack of resilience, and irrespective of football managing credentials of a tactical nature, I want a fitness guru.

Give brown a chance,he's got a multitude of players to pick from and we need a few points on the board, lets face it he doesn't have to be brilliant to be better than Bruno,don't undermine the bloke before he's started.

All the evidence suggests that it was more than likely mainly due to Bruno's stubborn refusal to change the failed tactics he continued to employ

I'd give Brown till the end of the season, to see what kind of job he does. I don't think we'll be anywhere near getting relegated - a couple of new faces and wins will see confidence back in the players and team - we're nowhere near as bad as some of you make out.

 

From that list, there's only Adkins I would like to see, long-term. Giggs / Gerrard / Neville / JFH / Ince would be as much of a gamble as Bruno was - just higher profile. For me - Adams is a definite no - not again, again! As are Cotterill / Pressley / Mowbray / Freedman / Billy Davies I don't think these are good enough, and they have a history of not doing well. Jamie Fullarton? Sacked after a dozen or so games at Notts CO? Don't think so! But, everything is a risk, and I guess Smurf will have to take one, again, unless Mr Brown does the job?
