Matchday Thread: AFC Wimbledon v Port Vale

I'm only just back as I had other things to do straight after the game so apologies if any of this has already been said but...

Alnwick can hold his head up high - he prevented it being six or seven.

Why on earth do we continue with the zonal marking? Elliott - all six foot four of him - had a free run at the ball for the second. No gumption with the subs either - we persisted with Big Red terribly isolated upfront and Jones isolated and wasted on the flank. Why didn't we at least go for it - 4-2 has gotta to be better than 4-0.

Wimbledon gave a lesson in how to play to your team's strengthes. Elliott would draw two or three around him and the skillful fast players (like Poleon) would then feed off his flick-ons or passes. They kept it simple at the back with a couple of six footers. They looked like they knew their roles in the team.

I guess we're also going to have the odd game when the young duo at the back have an off-day and this was probably one of them. I thought Elliott had both Smith and Streete in his pocket but those two were not the worst performers.

The rest of the team were pretty much anonymous, there were too much static passing - passes to standing players, no-one making runs, mis-placed passes and that's kind of it really...

I wished I'd been at the kids party I skipped - it was that bad!

And there was a precedent last season at Notts County.

Try telling that to the Bruno fans, only last week one was comparing Bruno to Jaap Stam at Reading, couldn't make it up.

Halfwit - I didn't compare the 2, like-for-like, but compared the situations of taking on relatively inexperienced managers! Don't keep twisting people's words just because their opinions differ from yours!

The chairman at Notts County put the club up for sale in February and guess what it still isn't sold. Smurf better wake up and realise that there aren't lots of potential buyers out there.

So either write off the director's loans and sell at the market value or make some sensible hard nose football decisions which will cost you money in order to rectify the appalling mess you have made so far

Incidentally - didn't we have some ******* on here, recently, saying something about only the Vale would be daft enough to appoint a rookie manager??? Seems like Jaap Stam's doing ok!

Well the above is what you posted, a comparison in anyone's language. You compared the Vale appointing a rookie manager with the rookie appointment of Jap Stam at Reading. It was subsequently pointed out to you that Stam has more experience plus a good track record at Ajax which together with his top class playing career most probably led Reading to take a punt on him.

That's the second insult in a row, you sound like a broken record and again I'll refrain from retaliation.

Well im glad its sunday im alive im happy ,dont go relying on football for your happiness ( u wont last long ) .

The gutless players who represented us have to live with there performance ( lack of ) yesterday .

The only folk who have my sympathy r thise who have gone every home and away game ,those who dont go away like me well i aint daft enough waste me money on half hearted rubbish .

I wouldnt like look at our results over the whole year of 2016 ,it generally has veen abysmal .

To a better 2017 where folk might actually want to watch a club home and away who have a team full ( squad ) of winners who dont lie down and have there tummies tickled often .

Just watched the highlights and shocking! A pity the shower weren't called in today for extra training like Adams used to do! Then again the little ducks were living it up in London! Pity they've got no thoughts for the magnificent 200+ brave souls that suffered the dross! Well done to those fans:clap:
