A 2nd referendum

I was fully aware that there would be some upheaval and that it would take time and effort to leave the EU. I didn't base my vote on slogans or tabloid headlines or the performance of anyone in a tv debate, anyone who did on either side is an idiot.

We surely are all aware that our politicians lie virtually every time they open their mouths so why anyone expected them to tell the truth this time is beyond me.

I agree with having strong trading links with Europe but I dont want political union with them and I certainly don't want two parliaments or two courts, now that is chaos. I believe we should be having trade agreements with the rest of the world not penalising them because they arent in the EU. I agree with immigration as long as its controlled, as long as its based on the countrys needs and as long as the infrastructure is in place to cope with the numbers. I dont understand why people think the EU has put so much money into this country or created so much employment when its clear to me that our infrastructure is aging and crumbling and the majority of available jobs are minimum wage and part time. We have a generation of children leaving university with degrees who are unable to find a job which pays them enough to even service their student loan.

The EU has been a disaster for this country and our future is now in our won hands. Once the MP's have stopped bickering and jostling for position perhaps they can begin building that future. That is after all what we pay them for.

There is no reason to hold another referendum unless the EU radically changes, which isn't going to happen so its time to get on with implementing the wishes of the majority

  • 2 weeks later...
Australia has called for a free-trader deal with Britain as early as possible.

Thing is Fosse, whilst our PM is..."...is keen to take advantage of Britain's exit from the EU..." he will have to sell it to the Parliament because, as I understand it, our current free trade arrangements with the UK coincide with the EU Community.

Still, the UK wont be out of the UK for several years and, as with Australian politics, we will have changed to a government less likely to want to trade outside Australasia.

Now what that's saying - 'Strap yourselves in'

All UK trade deals will have to be renegotiated with all the countries and trading blocs we wish to trade with, at present all is done by the EU civil servants. Thus specialists will have to be recruited, Canada currently has 300 for example. No doubt an empire will be set up, but no jobs for the North, far too cold:smile: Will Australian meat products be cheaper for us?

That's correct Jean and at times our trade relationships can get a tad fractious - especially with Indonesia.

Without crystal balling the future between us and the UK our 'trade experts' are going to need to be on their collective toes not to upset the other EU countries we trade with - mainly Germany.

Then again, this is my take on it Jean, but one thing's for sure - with China's navel base and America's air facilities on the opposite sides of Darwin, Northern Territory anything could happen to fracture both our geopolitical situation and trade agreements.

Ah! Life's good

If there is any left after Indonesia and China's needs have been met - ours too, of course.

One of the reasons China is locking in a 99 lease on port facilities in Darwin is to give them a 'better land-bridge' (their words) for our beef.

However, the American's are less than chuffed saying it will become a naval base for China to spy on them and whilst Australians generally are less than happy with our Federal and State governments giving China a virtual 80% ownership of the port facilities it is generally acknowledge that neither of the protagonists have to be on Australian soil to spy on each other - satellite technology does that for them.

Sturgeon's latest whines.

"Democratic interests - "the need to make sure Scotland's voice is heard and our wishes respected." But the voice and wishes of the UK as a whole are not to be respected

"Economic interests - "safeguarding free movement of labour, access to a single market of 500 million people and the funding that our farmers and universities depend on". So if they can't carry on getting money from England they want to get it from France and Germany instead. No comment about Scotland helping Greece and the other poorer EU nations

Solidarity - "the ability of independent nations to come together for the common good of all our citizens, to tackle crime and terrorism and deal with global challenges like climate change". Cos obviously that can't happen outside of the EU

She is really getting on my *******

What could be a greater endorsement that she is an open, honest, dedicated and rational polictician than the fact that she gets on your whatevers and then gets called a crackpot by the biggest minge-pot in the entire solar system - higher praise would be very difficult to come by.

Keep it gong Nicola !

NS is doing a sterling job up here.My mate Fraser has been telling me about the Edinburgh Trams Project which was delivered five years late.It was costed at £350m and was 100% over budget. Apparently, they set up an enquiry two years ago which has so far cost £4m.

Fraser thinks that if Scotland go independent they'd be bankrupt in five years.

I agree with Fraser.

No links, no articles quotes or evidence - just a load of tittle tattle from your 'mate' Fraser. Rather typical of your negative spin on everything.

Why should we believe this load of dross, when all the evidence of your previous posts shows you to be a complete doombrain who attempts to drag every thread he pollutes with his posts down into the gutter.

Reminds me of Boris Johnson who got rid of London's 'bendy-buses' because, he said, 'They kill off large numbers of cyclists every year'.

In fact, not a single cyclist fatality due to the buses was recorded from their introduction right up to the point where the liar got rid of them, for who can only guess what allegedly shady reason.
