A driver glancing at a text on his mobile doesn't think 'I'll get in my car not pay attention and mow someone down" but is still criminally responsible for the consequences of his/her decisions..or are they to be let off cos it was a 'split second' decision?

We need now to know the truth about what he was thinking, why he did what he did, what alternatives did he consider, what other decisions did he and any others make that led to the situation....he's not been found guilty and may not be guilty of any criminal offence regarding the opening of the gates (or there may not be enough evidence)...in due course he'll be charged if their is evidence and found guilty if a jury finds the case is proven. Charges relating to lieing etc are a different matter IMO.

Complete mismanagement of crowd control, the main function of the police at a football ground, a cog in the wheel made a mistake either in panic or in ignorance due to his inadequate briefing of the operational plan for policing a semi-final game. Not a unique game but a regular event at Hillsborough, with the problems within the stand already identified and safety measures to be used identified.

The truth has come out about the police lying, disgraceful and they deserve everything they get.I wonder if it's now time for those Liverpool fans who got into the game without tickets to now come forward and apologise to the families who lost someone?

And all the football hooligans from all teams in the 60's, 70's and 80's who caused the need for fences to be erected around pitches in the first place. We forget how widespread and violent football hooliganism was in those days.

How many were there? Surely the vast majority in that area already had tickets? Where have the numbers ever been stated?

Disgusting and astonishingly ignorant comment. I'm guessing that your earlier comment of 'clueless' was actually directed at me/ my comment rather than the people I mentioned who (like yourself) lay blame on the Liverpool fans.

Liverpool fans have absolutely no blame for the tragic events at Hillsborough and comments like yours, particularly after a jury completely exonerated those fans, are d!ckheaded in the extreme.

The vast majority who were already in the ground would surely have had tickets as you say Fosse as they were not involved in the chaos outside. They were the fans who came early.Of course there is no numbers stated, who will admit to it?

So you have no basis for your accusation. The people outside were quequing due to arriving late for various reasons, there were inadequate turnstiles and the match commander refused to delay the KO, which had happened before under experienced match commanders.

Judging from the responses to your foul little post, it's you that knows **** all.

I prefer to take the word of a jury who have sat through months upon months of evidence to some mis-informed idiot who insists on peddling discredited bullsh!t.

The truth is you're peddling a myth with no facts to back it up. So you're right to apologise......

So you are saying there were no Liverpool fans without tickets and behaved impeccably outside ,forming an orderly queue to get into the ground?I know there were people without tickets,NO MYTH.As I've said it doesn't excuse the lying police who will ultimately get theirs.Touts don't hang about in areas where everyone has a ticket.I went to Hillsborough,Leppings Lane, with Stoke on 2 occasions in the seventies. No problem then and no fences.

Police failure again, they were responsible for safe quequing outside the ground, and also to stop touting if they were that close to the ground and still had tickets by then.

How do you know then, please tell? I'm saying there would have been the same amount of ticketless fans than pretty much every major sporting event, but nobody knows. So I can only deal in FACTS and the verdict of a jury who are very clear what the outcome of all 14 points were......

Why would people climb over the turnstiles roof to get in the ground? Why were fans being ejected without tickets and taken through gate C which allowed a few hundred fans to get in,in a surge.?That gate was opened twice.Pens 3 and 4 should have been shut.Did everyone have a ticket for those pens?Or did they climb over into there from the side pens.No Myths only facts TP.As I keep saying the police made massive errors of judgement.

RIP The 96.
