i don't get the poor entertainment argument - not this season anyway. There's been some cracking games and performances at home. In any case, I'm not aware of a football club anywhere at any level that guarantees entertaining football.

 

This seems to be a modern attitude (maybe because of the cost?) but it doesn't make any sense to say "I'm not going because it's poor entertainment". How can anyone predict what will happen at any game of football?

 

It's just another excuse from people who are most likely losing interest for other reasons.

Rubbish, a number of people didn't renew their ST this season because last season was carp.

It's Norman's club. Fine. We have to live within our means. Fine. The thing that bugs me about Mr S is that he lies his head off. He admitted this time the 500k had gone AWOL, just as the Landlord of a certain site had said years ago. And got pulled apart for it at the time by Mr Smurthwaite.

 

He's lied about so much stuff his credibility is zero. Invoking the ghost of BB was a good one. Slagging off Grew was a touch of class... not. If they've settled out of court with Grew then shut the **** up.

 

His comments were frankly bonkers. We lost against Exeter.. I was pretty pissed about this. But it happens in the FA cup. Mid table L1 club loses against decent L2 team. Disappointing but I didn't suspect a stroke and dial 999, just kicked the cat.

 

The man is a ****. Sadly we are stuck with him.

They didn't renew this season because they KNEW that despite several decent summer signings this season would be no better?

 

They must be psychic. How many times have they won the lottery?

I've said it before but I agree that it's up to people what they spend their money on. Not attending because of poor entertainment I can accept, not attending because the facilities aren't up to scratch I can accept (although this is a football ground, no the Ritz), not attending because of family/other commitments I can accept. But not attending because the chairman says some silly things and is a bit of a nut job - really? I can't accept that as a valid reason.

 

Add all of the reasons together you have quoted and what do you get ?

Fairport Nick is an accountant who was in line to be on the board back in the day. He's always been very upset that he did not get this. And has been very bitter ever since.

 

Where did you make that gem up from? If truth be known I didn't want to do it at all (as dealing with an insolvent company could have harmed my professional standing , not to mention my indemnity insurance and my workload) I did it out of necessity. I had actually canvassed 5 other posters on here who are accountants who were willing to share the initial burden.

Some people who dont buy STs will probably attend as PotD thereby contributing more to the club than ST holders.... some will pick their games... some may not bother... but a lesson smurf should learn is a simple one.... you catch more flies with sugar than you do with vinegar.

I will be renewing my season ticket in spite of Smurf's best effort to make me do otherwise. His approach to running a business is pathetic and his PR skills are worse than useless. He contradicts himself constantly and slags off others publicly but can't accept criticism himself. That aside he is the perfect owner for our club. But like I say I will be renewing but only after a great deal of thought.

 

Never take our support and love of the club for granted Smurf just a word to the wise.
