I agree. Dickinson had a poor season by his standards but he never hides even when he's not playing too well. Maybe the responsibility of being captain weighted too heavily on his shoulders and affected his game. He'd be hugely disappointed,though,if he lost the captains armband even if it was for all the right reasons.

Agreed. Dicko has been half the player since gaining the armband, which I think boils down to him having to withhold his aggression/tackling. This makes him the player he is.

He said on twitter last week he will be speaking to Sam Kelly soon and yesterday said that "the hard work starts tomorrow". Went down the vale at 1030 this morning but no sign yet. By the way it took the coaches 30 mins to set up for the training drills, not seen that before!!!

Its also encouraging that RP is in contact with ryan personally via mobile so no agent to get in the way. Hopefully some good news by Wednesday?

It's not a question of who deserves to be captain, it's down to who is the best leader, the best motivator. That isn't necessarily the best player, either.

Dicko wears his heart on his sleeve but never struck me as a natural leader or the coolest of heads on the pitch.

I really don't know who would make the best captain. I'll leave it to Page. We haven't seen 5 players yet and there might be one among them.

My instinct would be to go for O'Connor perhaps.

Its looking ever likely that he will eventually be signing on loan for us, especially judging by the twitter message between him and Sam Kelly. Just very unfortunate that we couldn't have invested in the £600,000 buy out clause for him because he will be worth a damn sight more than that in a couple of years and he will be playing in a premier league team by the time he is mid 20's. Injuries depending of course, but it would have been a sound investent for the club i feel.

Not a permanent signing but a year long loan is still good.
