You have answered your own question. By investing the extra money you were able to bring Marshall and O'Connor to the club.

If you had not done that we would have been playing in the 4th Division next season.

 

Many posters on here believe that if we do not retain Pope, O'Connor and Marshall then ST sales will drop, which will reduce income, which will reduce the quality of player even more next time round.

 

You may be surprised to learn I have every faith in you because you know that to make Vale successful and protect your investment you have to retain the club's best players and bring in other players better than what we already have.

 

But equally Dave you have to temper that by saying in bringing in much better quality in O'Connor and Brown and similar quality to JMW in Marshall and spending a whopping 750k extra we actually lost a thousand fans a game!

 

What happens if we do as some suggest and break the bank again, bring in even more quality, pay even higher wages and see the crowds drop again?

Big name signings or new signings only have a short term effect on gates if what the fans see on the pitch is dire... the novelty factor and expectation of results soon wears off if they dont deliver.

REP if we didn't waste most of the budget on copious amounts of average at best players then the quality would come out of the main budget.

 

The only players who I care about staying in the whole squad are Neal, Brown (coaching), Marshall, Pope, O'Connor

 

The rest can be easily replaced.

Im more concerned fans know where players live than if they are signing or not. Personally I don't give a monkeys where they live and don't have any intention or time to find out.

They've got till June 10th to decide so I don't think we'll hear anything before then.
