I have no problem giving Page a season to prove his worth but if Smurf does this he must let him choose his own backroom team and sign his own players only then will we know whether he's good enough!

Who says we would be chasing promotion if we went down? We could easily be the next Tranmere.

I think we would struggle to find a decent alternative manager. Let's face it, football management is a small community and most of them know each other. Most potential managers will talk to Micky Adams about why he left and only the really desperate out of work ones will apply. Do we want that? Rob Page will be a decent manager for someone, why not us? He knows the situation already and is trying to do his best within the constraints imposed upon him.

 

Why?

I'm sure Adams would look back fondly at his time with Port Vale, he stuck with us through administration, he came back to the club after leaving us and a promotion in his time.

Port Vale would appeal to quite a number of managers. If the prats who ran this club before can get the same sort of applicants that applied before then why can't Smurf find the same caliber of potential managers?

Really? Yates, Dickinson, Duffy, Williamson, Dodds, Birchall, and some more hardly strike me as top half of league 1. In my opinion 12th with the current squad is about right.

Not top half but 12th which is either top half or bottom half dependant on how you look at it ;)
