Pope hits out at negative fans...

Private messaging him or any footballer and giving them abuse is bang out of order. What's more, most of them wouldn't have the sack to say what they probably are to his face, or anyone else's for that matter. Tom has had an average season at best, although injury hasn't helped him one bit, but he is still hands down the best striker we have and is also passionate about the club he plays for and supports. A few moronic numpties shouldn't forget that.

Micky did the same last season going to the press week after week. Moaning about the fans and not getting a contract (even though the performances and tactics were awful).

Look at where he is now. Remember one thing Popey if you do leave in the summer your new clubs fans and management will not be as patient as Vale fans. You will not walk into the starting 11 as easy as you do here.

Tom Pope was absolutely within his rights to make those comments. Well said, Beechy.

Some of the criticism he gets is quite frankly unbelievable. He's scored 55 goals in 154 appearances since signing for us and yet still some myopic jokers reckon he's a waste of time. Are you all for real?

The lad has had a serious injury and missed 3 months of the season yet still heads out goal charts with 11. The service to him is often dreadful. He would run through a brick wall for the Vale and doesn't deserve this infantile abuse.

At other clubs, with a goal return like that, he'd be getting a statue built in his honour. Lay off the lad and give him some support. 3/4 of the teams in this league would love to have Pope in their match day squad.

Could not agree more.

From the abuse the Pope gets, to the meltdown at being asked to move seats, as percentage of Vale fans are a real embarrassment sometimes.

If I were you Tom I would spent your time on the training ground instead of goin running to the press all the time. You should answer people with your performances on the pitch because you certainly need to improve them. Vale fan or not don't forget us fans pay your wages and when all said and done your only a run of the mill league 1 forward. Prove us disloyal fans wrong tonight be grabbing the winner

Well said Tom and about time too. If they carry on this way , some Vale "fans" will get the team they deserve in the lower reaches of non-League football. Tom's comments about away support are spot on but home support is generally abysmal. One word of common sense - please don't use Twitter or other social media unless it is properly controlled.

Calm yourself down, I'm reporting a story like the vast majority of posts do on here.

As you will see I said I agree with his point but wondered what the reaction would have been had the chairman made the same comments.

What you are reporting is something completely different so you wonder why he's posted polar opposite views in such a short space of time.

Now stop getting your nickers in a twist and go and empty your sack ;)

If tom doesn't want to be exposed with critism on social media then he should delete his accounts or make them hidden...there's always going to be Internet trolls

Totally agree. I don't do social media and if I was a player I definitely wouldn't. You'd get adulation one game and utter criticism the next - just look at the garbage posted on OVF after a defeat.
