Campion / Williamson issue

We may be 5th in the form table but from a punter who just watches the games it certainly doesn't feel like it, does it to you? How many games can we say that we actually dominated and deserved the win/draw (especially at home), I don't recall too many.

I agree with that, but that's a broader issue about the team as a whole. Although of course if BW had scored 14 instead if 4 then it would look a lot different!

I want any player in a Vale shirt to succeed, but I simply don't see Ben as a goalscorer this season or ever.

Williamson is a good option to have on the bench. I always find that when he starts games, he doesn't use his full pace (so as to last the full game), hence why he looks more effective coming off the bench.

But for me, he wouldn't be starting games, sorry Ben!

I completely agree, my comments were not necessarily a slight on Williamson, more of how he fits in with Pages tactics and what I witness on the pitch. We need more of a dominance up top, or someone with pace who can finish, Williamson doesn't offer this, if Campion isn't the answer then we need to bring someone in who is. I may then feel like we are a 5th in the form book team.

Williamson can be justified in the match day squad as a super sub but shouldn't be starting and certainly not as a lone striker.....to add to the above debate Campion is also very mobile with good pace for a big striker and would hold the ball up better and could add the goals needed for a push into

the top six.

Good point.

I would like to see Campion start and replaced later in the game by Williamson if necessary.

We have some very peculiar ideas about how we "earn" victories. Games are won and lost on goals scored and conceded, not on brownie points gained in the eye of the spectator. While we are talking statistics can anyone help me please - Vale statistics show Williamson with eight goals -four league and four cup. the Sentinel show him with seven and I agree with this - Three cup goals against Hartlepool and no other cup goals. Does any one know which other cup goal Williamson is alleged to have scored?

Williamson has 7, and 3 of those are cup goals in the League Cup win over Hartlepool.

The other cup games are fairly simple - FA cup MK Dons 3-4 an own goal and 2 from NG, the 2-3 JPT loss at Preston had 2 from Tom Pope, and after the Hartlepool win we lost 2-3 to Cardiff in the League Cup with the Vale goals coming from O'Conner and Brown.
